Remote control.

I have not heard anyone mention this yet, so either I am being helpful or the last to hear about this. I added a Satellite receiver to our trailer so we don't have to take one from the stick house every time. Then the problem was to either move the receiver from the bedroom to the entertainment center or keep trying to point the remote just right through the kitchen to the receiver in the bedroom. The solution I found from Radio Shack is a "Remote Extender" item #1501950 So far works great.

Rick,
What model/brand of receiver do you have. My DISH receiver is RF Remote controlled. The receiver has a short (about 8 inch) antenna on the back. When I'm in the back bedroom watching satellite the remote back there changes the channel from the reciever in the family room. through walls, etc. The same thing in the Hanna 3400RL. No receiver in the bedroom but I can still watch satellite back there through the "dual" mode of the dish reciver in the living room. There was a whole thread on the hook up. I'm thinking you many have on of the older Infra-red (IR) systems.

Edited: You are correct if it is IR. The remote extender is the way to go. It works on RF.

The older IR. We just finally upgraded the stick house. We now have the dual DVR and the second remote can be used anywhere in the house.

We have used a leap frog remote extender for a few years. Works great. Can find them on the web - think I got mine through Amazon.com or Newegg.com.
