Following your trip down to Texas with interest and glad to see ya'all are placing your focus on safety, not speed. We appreciate our "Winter Texans" and would like to see you get to the Texas State Line with big smiles on your faces! Hope you have a lot of fun and a lot of warm weather while you're here.

Ya, the older we get the slower we get! Yesterday we stopped about 4ish, cause the weather was fogging up. We drove some yesterday AM in the fog, carefully and with a little trepidition. When it started again, we said, NUFF of this, and we found a nice campground in Arkadelphia. Taken over by new owners in August and they are dumping a bunch of $$ in it, making nice improvements. Close to the highway, a bit noisy, but we would stay there again.
Had breakfast at Waffle House, as we have NONE in Michigan that we are aware of. Had SALTY!! Ham, and Ole Carole had GRITS!! My southern roots were taste bud happy!
Found a Walley World, grabbed some basics, and hit the road about 9:45. Yea, we had intended on an earlier start, what can I say??
It is raining now, we are hoping we will drive out of it, sighhhh, but we are not setting up or packing up in it, so, we will just mosey along. We should be in Texas in the next hour or so.
Not sure how far we will go today, much will depend on the weather I suppose. Mother Nature and her brats are frequently determining factors. Sure is nice being retarded, errrrrrrrrrrr, retired.
Safe rides all!!

We have ARRIVED!!
After the last post, it was just a hour or less and we ran out of the rain. Later in the day it got WINDY and bounced us around a bit, cut the fuel mileage, grrr. but, we made almost 400 miles and Rockdale on 79 and 77.
I will not go into detail about our stay here, except that we arrived after dark, something we don't relish, it always provides unwanted "excitement" ????? And, it did last night as well. We survied, and have a few war stories, a good thing, eh???
Got up REAL early this AM and were on the road well before 7:30. Beautiful blue skies, chilly, 28 degrees, but NO wind.
After some breakfast in Schulenburg (is that spelled right???) we hit the calm roads again. As the morning progressed we realized we were going for it! Another 400 miles and we would be home for the holidays.
WE pulled in about 4 PM today, are on our site and sorta set up. We are going to relax and enjoy our FIRST Christmas in Texas, almost our first NOT in Michigan in our married lives (way too long to comtemplate! HAHA)
Thanks for reading our reports, thanks for all the great ideas and web sites and hints and good thoughts and prayers.
Merry Christmas to you ALL!!!!!

Wow.. What a trip. Now you can kick back and enjoy the great weather. We pull up the Northern Ohio weather every morning to remember how lucky we are to be able to enjoy this lifestyle. We are also away from family but among friends.

Carol,
Merry first Christmas in Texas. Glad to see that you made it safe and sound. I love the retarded/retired life style. Enjoy our lovely state and enjoy the sunshine. It looks like you got out of town just in time. Work on that tan and make them jealous back home

Hey, get up!! It's Christmas morning! You are burnin' daylight. Christmas in Texas is a day celebrated in its entirity. There's pies to bake and turkey to roast. The party will be at your campsite. I invited all your neighbours over so we could be ya'll's guest.
Here written in ya'll's new language:
¡Oye, se levanta!! ¡Es la mañana de Navidad! Usted es burnin' la luz del día. Navidad en Tejas es un día célebre en su entirity. Hay pasteles de hornear y el pavo para asar. El partido estará en su camping. Invité a todos sus vecinos tan nosotros podríamos ser huéspedes de ya'll.
Break out the shorts and T-shirts. Its only 35 degrees. Must seem like a heat wave. Well, maybe not. Did you drag this cold down from Michigan? It is because you drove so fast, you (ya'll) sucked a vacuum behind you (ya'll).
Anyway, Glad ya'll made it. Gracias para el informe, Senora.

Stiles,
Merry Christmas!!
Are you bringing your sweet bride Dianna down here to see us today?? Probably not, so, give her a HUGE hug from the gang in the Valley.
Sorry bout the cold(er) weather, We did not want to bring it, so, I believe Santa did it!
The campground is doing the turkey, for that we are thankful. We eat at 5!!
However, if there are any MOCers that wanna visit, we are here, Al will be cooking the vegies we need for the dinner. Bring your lawn chairs and come sit a spell! We have fire pits and firewood if it does not warm up enough by the time you arrive. It was 42 this AM when the kids needed their AM walk. A bit brisk!
Colleen, Merry Christmas, the sun is bright and the skies are clear and blue.
Happy Holidays to all the MOC!!!

Well, I don't know exactly where you are. I know you passed within 5 miles of our home site when you traversed Hwy 79. You came through Palistine, Buffalo, Jewet, Marquez and points South. We are 5 miles east of Hwy 79 just off Hwy 7 (Marquez). We hope to be back to our site by Friday or Saturday. Houston is not one of my favorite places although we lived here for 30 years in Clear Lake.

Mission
We waved at you twice on the way down, once as we were closest to Houston and once when we went thru Marquez.
We are so glad to hear you will be back in your unit very soon!
Cheers
