Help with fantastic fan

Fan in bathroom lid is up and won't go up or down. Variable speed fan works, and can hear motor working when using toggle switch. It's like the top of the fan has become disengaged from the worm drive(?).
Went up on the roof, put pressure on lid while wife activated motor. No change. Guess will have to drive home with lid fully up. Probably won't be there when we arrive! Any suggestions?

Look at the knob. Pulling it "out" puts it in manual mode. Maybe it was accidently pulled out? Try pushing it "in" and trying auto mode again.

This site is great. You all were right on, someone had pulled knob into manual mode. Problem solved.

That's another reason I have vent covers on ours. If it's hail or something from the outside then the cover gets broken and hopefully the vent is still intact. If something goes wrong with the vent then the cover should protect us until I can get it fixed.
