Grease question

It's time to pack my wheel bearings again. Used Lucas Red n' Tacky last time. When I grabbed the grease gun to lube the wet bolts this summer, I ended up with a lot of oily separation running out of the end of the grease gun. Do like the product as my hub temperatures were cooler on the hot travel days in comparison to the Dexter factory pack job. Thinking of going with Mystik JT-6 High temperature #2. Hoping that it doesn't separate in the tube like the Red n' Tacky. Anyone have any experience they could share?

Was it stored in a hot/warm area? I use the Mobil One synthetic grease on Dexter's approved list and had the same issue when I was storing it in my garage as it is very hot in there. I live in Florida, very near the surface of the sun.
I started keeping it inside where the AC can prevent it getting so hot and haven't had an issue since.

Mystic JT-6 #2 was all I ever used on mine and never a problem. Never noticed any thin stuff coming out the gun that I kept in the garage during summer high temps. It is on the Dexter list of approved lubes.

The garage is attached to the house so not above 80 degrees. You would think it would stay together.

How hot do you suppose it gets inside the hubs on a hot summer day, rolling down the interstate at 65 mph?

When air temps were as high as 105-108 which I did a number of times in June thru August.

I’ve been using the Shell Gladus for years with good results. It is also on dexter approved list.

Brand doesn`t really make any difference it`s the use designation that makes the difference.

I had switched from Mystic JT-6 to Lucas Red-n-Tacky a few years back for farm equipment after seeing the results of the Lucas being used in an offshore environment. I was always somewhat leery of the Lucas product though due to noticing a runny ooze at the end of the zerk coupler at the end of the hose of my vertically stored grease guns out in my home workshop. After seeing the video I don't think I'll worry about it much any longer.

Take the pressure off the grease gun when not in use and the oil will not separate from the grease. you can pull the tension rod back and lock it. takes a little effort but the grease will not separate. I learned this trick from my Shell wholesaler that I buy from.

Been using Red & Tacky for longer then I can remember.. used on the older autos when you still replaced the hubs, have used on every RV owned for the last 45 years..

Will not use anything but Red & Tacky… use on suspension on my autos , yard equipment, and the RV wheel bearings and wet bolts..

Image of my Dexter OEM bearings .. this was what the grease looked like this year in April when I did my annual repack..the grease .. as you can see has not separated

Bearings are original Dexter on a 7K axle with well over 38K miles..

I used Mistick for years until I had a glob (drooled from a brand new tube) on a workbench separate while doing the wheel bearings 2-3 years ago.Switched to Valvoline synthetic which did not separate under similar conditions.

Many good lubes available that meet the Dexter specs

Just curious, how often do you guys repack wheel bearings? I have a 2021 MHC 331RL with about 4,000 miles on it. I bought it in May of 2021. I know some say annually and others go by mileage.

I repacked about every 5,000 miles. But I didn't tow but about 2,000 miles per year.

We travel enough that mileage is my trigger. Around 5000 miles or so.
