I was just reading through these posts and noticed that an important safety issue was never mentioned. The battery is required to power the trailer brakes if it accidentally gets disconnected from the tow vehicle while travelling.

I hope no one is recommending that we should tow our trailers without batteries. When parked and connected to shore power the converter is able to run the 12v systems without batteries. But that condition shouldn't be the norm since the entire system is designed to have batteries in the mix.

For sure, when traveling, good batteries should be installed. None of the 12v systems will run while traveling without the batteries. I assume you would still have standard braking since that is coming from the TV. I don't know if the breakaway system would still work as long as the trailer cord is still connected to the TV. Of course if that let's go then you've got nothing.

Welcome aboard, glad you found us. Hopefully we can help zero in on your issue.

I assume you meant "intermittently"? The problem occurs randomally?

How often has it occurred?

When it happens has is it always in the same location, connected to the same shore power?

Have you confirmed that the power you're connected to is good? Meaning, is it steady and within voltage range? Do you have and EMS in your trailer to protect against errant voltage?

Have you checked all of the 12v connections from the converter, to the batteries, to the other relays in the battery compartment? Is everything wired correctly (no reversed polarity issues)? Are all connections tight?

Anyway, just some initial thoughts. Hopefully others with good electrical experience will chime in as well.

The four fuses are called Reverse Polarity Fuse and are there to protect the 12V system from the battery/batteries being hooked up backwards. The converter is probably fine. But do check you have the batteries connected properly.
