TST 507 cap tool won’t fit

I unboxed my new TST 507 tire monitor system today, reading the book and watching videos, laying the parts out on the table, etc. Strangely, the metal cap tool won’t fit the caps…the tool is too small and will not even come close to fitting the nut sides of any of the caps. 3 tools came in the box and they are all the same. TST was already closed this afternoon when I discovered the problem. I will call them tomorrow.

Anybody else have a similar problem? And what was the remedy?

I removed that free spinning cap so I don't need their special tool. I know it's an Anti-Theft cap, but trying to use that stupid tool on inside duals is beyond a pain.
I've had my TST 507 for 6 or 7 years and haven't lost a sensor yet.

Did you simply cut the spinning cap parts off? Or is there a trick to pulling them off?

This is for the non-flow through sensors.


My new TST system doesn't have a spinning cap. There is a hex nut that goes on the stem first, then the sensor. You hand tighten the sensor until the air stops leaking and then 1/4 more turn. Spin the hex nut up against the sensor and tighten it with the OPEN END of the wrench.

The older sensor had the spinning cap (I just put a set on my son's trailer) and you used the wrench to encapsulate the sensor and the integrated nut beneath it to tighten the whole assembly.

The spinning cap sensor has three tiny screws that you can remove and then you can tighten the sensor by hand without using the wrench.

Thanks Carl, didn't realize TST had changed construction. No matter, don't think I would mess with it on my inside Duals, hard enough to just get the sensors on.

If I'm reading this right, the metal wrench included, is just for the retaining nut and not the cap/sensor itself. The nut threads on first, then the sensor, then the nut is reversed up against the sensor, and the small metal wrench tightens the nut so the sensor cannot be stolen. Are you saying the wrench does not fit the retaining nut?

For duallies that don't come with factory TPMS, internal sensors might be a better option and work with the TST 507 system, and you don't have to mess with sensors on the difficult inside duals. https://tsttruck.com/507-series-inte...07-int-s1.html

These are not flow-thru caps. A separate lock nut was not furnished in the box. I looked at the caps this morning - they do not have a spinning cover. It appears that the tool will only tighten it down a bit more. What would happen if I just hand tighten snug and call it good? Do these things tend to get stolen or come off the stems easily during travel?

I am surprised the nuts were not in the box. But they are advertised as a theft deterrent and you should be fine without them.

Tool update: I found the valve nuts! they were in a small plastic bag with additional battery O-rings and rubber valve washers in the bottom of the box. The tool fits the nuts - not the cap.
