How I remove our Truck Canopy

We use our Montana a few times a year and need to remove our truck canopy when we go RVing. Can't pull our Truck into the garage and use a hoist so here's our solution.

I made a structure to lift the canopy off the truck. It's aluminum and allows me to remove the canopy without help. Our driveway is slightly sloped so the structure isn't perfectly square but designed for our driveway. I can disassemble the top bars and slide the unit with canopy into our garage.

It's been a lifesaver these past 4 years as tge canopy is heavy duty and impossible to lift off with a few people so I designed our canopy removing structure. See pics.

I have a 5' x 5' square metal frame on large casters that I attached a wooden structure to. I made it the height of the truck bed and I use 1/2" black pipe across the bed as rollers and roll it off the truck onto wooden frame and simply roll it away. It's a one man operation easy peasy no fuss no muss

Have any pictures of your design?

Interested in seeing how it works.

Looks like it could pull the hitch out as well.

Good idea...I've never removed the hitch from the bed. I've turned the hitch levers but couldn't lift the hitch. I have left it in place in case I couldn't get it removed and placed back into the bed of the truck....Thinking maybe I should try sometime..

Nice...So you are able to slide the canopy off onto the table structure? The snug top canopy comes down a bit over the truck bed so not sure I could slide our canopy all the way off onto a table structure like yours... I do like that your table structure is small.. thanks for sharing

Mine comes over the side also. That's why there's 2X showing on the outside but not the inside. I've taken my topper off using this method probably 1/2 dozen times. All I need to do is lift it enough to put the pipe under it and it rolls right off
