Just about any dishwashing liquid will do something..They all cut grease and that is good and they all "make things slippery" and that is good. Best to use them while in transit so it can slosh around.

Adding a few bas of ice will help scrub the inside. Non-Ultra Dawn was recomended to me because it disolves well in cold water.

Soap is a surfactant.
A Surfactant is a surface active agent.
It breaks down the surface tension of water so that it will spread, break down greases and other solids.
Another thing to do with soap, is when you take a pail or pot of water to put out your campfire, is add a little soap to the water so it will spread and peneratrate the coals and ashes.

We use water softner and liquid laundry detergent. We also buy the cheapest we can find. The brand doesn't seem to matter as much as the fact that we do it. We've had a lot less trouble with tank level sensors since we started.

Yep! The dawn seems to help. I also add about a cup of boraxo (or calgon) once in awhile. I never leave the black tank completely dry? Always add about 3 to 4 gals of water after draining and add some of the toilet chemicals to break down any left over waste.
