Comet over New Mexico

In case you don't know, the comet Panstarrs is making it's northern hemisphere debut this month.

Tonight at Rockhound State Park I kept a sharp lookout for it after sunset and was able to spot it with the binoculars and telephoto lens.

I got some decent shots (for an amateur that is)

You can check them out on our blog Here.

Enjoy

Yep, it looks good in Arizona also.

Good pictures.
They hyped it on the 6:00 o'clock weather last night and about how you would be able to see it with the naked eye. I went out to try to see it. No luck, but there were some thin clouds that way. Then on the 10:00 o'clock news the same guy said that after looking himself you would probably need some assist in the form of binoculars or telescope.
Oh, well. Guess I will just wait for Haley's to come by again. Oops! That is not until 2061. Not gonna be here.
Maybe Kahoutek. Ohh! Not for 75,000 years!
Guess I will just have to watch for meteors.

Reminds me of the time Mike Shannon, St Louis Cardinals broadcaster, was broadcasting from Shea Stadium in NY and commented that " the full moon was so beautiful and he wished the folks back in St Louis could see it".
The comet pics are great as well.
