We have the 3121 with a queen mattress. I love the space I have on both sides of the bed! I have a minimum of 12" on both sides. So much easier to make the bed and if I have to get up in the night, I don'd have to step sideways between the closet door and bed to get out.

BALONEY. It is a $500.00 option. Most of that I'll bet is profit

Queen
We had a queen foam mattress that we bought at Sams in our 2017 Laredo with a “cooling” 3” topper. The factory Laredo keystone mattress was in the garage. I put it back in the Laredo before we traded. When we bought the Monty - had the dealer cut down platform for a queen and they took the Sams foam mattress and put it into the Monty. No idea what they did with the factory Monte king mattress.
We have a Leesa foam mattress with topper in the S&B. I sleep much better in the Monte on the Sams mattress.

No doubt...isn't it all about profit? I found it to be an odd declaration since it appears that many actually prefer a queen.

Ditto removing the king and cutting down the plywood base for a queen. Ours is a similar footprint to the 3120/21. We don't have a king at home either and prefer the extra space around the bed.
Not really sure what the actual space is around the bed and the 5er is wrapped up for the winter. However, you can look at the space that's there now and add about 6" per side of extra space

Dumped the king, too. I got rid of one BP because lack of space on my side.
Sorry, folks. The only time my bed is made is when I put clean sheets on.

We are the same - only make the bed when we put clean sheets on.

When we went from king to queen I elected to replace the platform rather than cut it down because the king mattress had about a 5" overhang making it impossible to sit on the end of the bed. Now we can get around it to make it, get up during the night and not have to side step and also set on the end and put on your shoes. Happy camper.

Don't have access to the fiver right now.
I take it, that one 4X8 sheet of plywood is enough to attach (48x60) to the platform in the slide area. Is the platform 30" from the slide wall to the hinge?

Original platform was 72W X 48L and section from the wall to the hinge was only 25 leaving me the overhang. I put in a piece 58WX53L. It was a section from an old home made ping pong table that had been special ordered. I have seen where some just scab a 10 or 12" piece to the end to eliminate the overhang and the mattress absorbs the bump. Since I had that oversized piece of plywood I decided to keep it one piece. I needed 78" total length for a regular queen mattress. We bought a Nectar mattress in a box and we love it.

For those that cut down the king to a queen, what size is the finished product? Thanks.

I figure the current King platform is 78W and 6 inches shy for length (74"). New Queen is 60Wx80L (actually an inch off all around). I figure 8 to 10" each side for approximately a 58" width. The end length won't change and the 6" will still be there. My concern would be how much distance is useable between wardrobe slide and bed slide when closed as my mattress is butted into the wardrobe at 80". Unless you can get a special cut plywood anything in excess of 48" will have to be patched in for approximately 55 x 60 layout (55+25 inlay for the slide=80). This is planning stage, while in storage, so rough calculations.

This is why I found it simpler to just cut down the platform that came in the rig. The length was already fine. I cut the width down to 58". Problem solved
Ours isn't a one piece platform. The hinge is about 2' from the head of the bed so underbed storage is the remaining area between there and the foot.

Hello,
its so funny to buy a humungous extra huge/large/big camper in form of a 5th wheel and then chicken out on a real bed
You guys should step up to an airstream and show balls
Mike
