washer drain
Hello, Again
I have the 2014 331 RLT. it has a washer dryer prep and on the wall next to the drain it says "warning" this drain is not connected to a tank and the termination cap must be removed and hose must be connected to use this. I thought ok that makes a lot of sense. Now for the confusing part. last month when I was in my basement I found a puddle of water in it and I had to remove all our stuff and man you cant believe all of the crap that has collected in there. and then remove panels that are installed to let them dry out and tightened all of the fittings. I found a couple loose, well getting back to the issue, I followed the pipe that runs from the washer drain and it looks as if it goes right to the gray tank. I followed it again and it does, it goes to the grey tank. now am I crazy, did keystone make a fub dub and that pipe is actually tanked. any ideas anybody? Thank you

My '14 3150RL has the washer draining into the gray tank. The gray tank valve must be open to use the washer.
There was NO WARNING LABEL. Thanks Keystone.

If I recall correctly, on our previous model (3400RLC) it by-passed the gray tank to drain, but this new unit drains into the gray tank. My grays are always open anyway, unless it is the day before a black water dump, so it has never mattered much either way to me.

You did the right thing by tracing the drain to see what is the truth. I think Keystone decides per model per year where they are going to plumb the W/D drain. My 2014 3402RL goes directly to the drain bypassing the Grey water tank. Fine with me, but I had to trace it to find out. Never trust a Keystone sticker. Too many of mine have been wrong. My experience and the MOC has taught me that.

Sounds like the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing. Probably some they do not plumb, some they do. And in this case the sticker guy did not consult with the plumbing guy.

I'm glad to know that. if it were not for the loose water connections and flooding my basement I would have not known that at all. sometimes poor workmanship can lead to a better understanding of your unit not to mention I had nothing to do that day anyway AND I found a few things that I thought I had lost. LOL.

When it comes to the washer prep no one should automatically believe what the sticker says. Our 2015 came with the same sticker and of course during the first wash we found that indeed the sticker was WRONG and our 3610 model drains into the grey tank for the kitchen. You would think that Keystone..........,right, but no!!!

Anyone owning one of these beast and has not removed the basement wall and convenience center wall to investigate what's behind them is in for a surprise at some point in their travels. Also, on the list should be the bottom cover so you can secure all the loose wires. JMHO

On our unit we have the exact same sticker. Found out that after doing a couple loads of laundry that the washer really drains into the grey tank. We had a small flood when it backed up the washer drain and flooded our hallway.
This just proves the old saying - "DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ!"

Yes I see that you would think the RV company's would have a way of doing things then stick to it. It drains to the tank on one model then not on the other and that is not just between the models but the years, one year yes, one year no. a lot of people do not have the ability or the physical availability to perform an inspection to find out the truth and trust the sticker OHH that's right some do not even have a sticker. I think we should quit buying the RVIA seal, buy the way you pay hundreds of dollars for that in you units price that states your unit was built to a standard like a code and to find one day BAM a flood. when some units have a sticker some don't, some drain to the tank some don't. but hey I have a sticker over my door that says EXIT. really!

Since I didn't trust anything I was told by the dealer, let alone the factory, I ran the washer and watched thru our clear sewer connection to see if any water came out with the grey tanks closed. When no water came out, I then opened one at a time and found the water went to the bathroom grey tank.

We did the same as Dick on our 2010 2955RL, and our water drained directly into the discharge pipe, never touched either gray tank.
So there you have it, two units the same year, just different floor plans, but different ways of draining the Washer.

I think there is a disconnect between the installers and engineers. like I said before what I think is important and what they think is important differ. I have a warning sticker saying one thing then means another. but they make sure the EXIT sticker is on the door. (LOL) and who doesn't peel that one off? and the stickers on the smoke, lp detectors and the book that is stuck to the wall buy the stove. buy the way if you use a hair dryer you can pull the stickers off with out removing any of the wall paper. But this is our 3rd. unit 1st. Montana and I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars, but to get 5 they need to look a little more closer to the details especially if you end up with a flood.
