fresh water pump?

our fresh water pump makes a small noise as if it were running but it doesn't pump any water- it doesn't sound normal [ not very loud ]- is it possible that the motor is running but the pump is disconnected from the motor? naturally, the pump is in a hard to get at area so I hope to have good advice before I tackle the repair- all replies appreciated so let me know your collective experiences- THANX in advance- Don

Have you tried opening the faucets to bleed air out? Sometimes the system will have the pump cavitate until it pushes the air out.

What is the water level in your fresh water tank? When our fresh water tank is full, the pump only runs a second or two before it shuts off. As the tank lowers the longer the pump runs. There is a point where the level falls low enough that the pump will run continuously. When that happens, we just turn the pump off except when we need to use the water.
