Vision Mirror

I know there's been a lot of discussion about the adhesive mirror on the front of our cabs...some like them, some don't....we just a purchased from a private owner a 2018 375 High Country. No mirror. He said like the rest of you it went bad so he took it off didn't replace it. I would like it replaced even though because of the virus we're not planning on getting out this year. I called Keystone they recommended two hour long drive dealers. The dealers said we would have to bring it in so they could check it over? and decide if it's a warranty issue. I mentioned I'm not towing or getting out unless necessary; so there's nothing they can do since I won't bring it in. I called Keystone they gave me a TiaraRV in Indiana (we're in OH) and Keystone said you're not alone concerning not towing. They'll do the warranty work and may require pics but will send the vision mirror out to you. Long story short the parts manager said I would have to pay $64.66. I'm confused and disappointed. TiaraRV says they get billed then submit a claim. Keystone gives me their name and number to get it hmmmm. Then a day later the right hand of Keystone basically sends me a generic email, sorry about your luck! Can anybody help us? Thanks D

Our mirror on our 2012 is still as clear as it was new, but I’ve never used it to hitch up. The mirror, at least on our rig, just doesn’t show me anything to help hitching up, so it’s just a wasted decoration.

Concur with Bob on the usefulness of the mirror.

I am also surprised Montana would consider it a warranty item on a 2-3 year old rig.

Some have replaced the mirror only to have it discolor again.
Others have covered it.

Our Montana was manufactured in 2018 (2019 model), and we purchased it, probably, 2 weeks after it was manufactured. The mirror on the front was one of the very first things to go bad. It fogged over in about 2 months.

I never claimed warranty work on it, I just told my dealer I wanted a new one. He said come on in and pick it up. Yes, it was around the $50 mark as I remember, but waiting for 3 or 4 months for a mirror warranty work was just NOT going to happen.

When I got the new one, I was surprised it was just a plastic and came with double sided sticky tape.

When I installed it, I considered pulling the old one off, but then thought to myself, probably the flexing of the thing (they are so thin) caused the back to flake and go cloudy. I also figured if I tried to pull the mirror off, it would have to be broken up and then I'd have to clean the tape up. As you know, that super double sided tape is really hard to clean of ... clean.

So, I just cleaned the original mirror with some alcohol (no, not the drinking type) and after it dried, applied the tape and just stuck the new one right on top of the old one.

Well, that's been close to 2 years ago now, and the new one is still clear and serving it's purpose. Yes, I do use it and have learned to depend upon it.

I can't imagine your dealer and Keystone giving you such a run-around. All those mirrors are the same. Some are just turned up-side-down.

Just tell them you want the mirror. Your camper is out of warranty, so don't even try to go down that route, and don't let them bully you...

If you can't get satisfaction from them, call Walnut Ridge RV near New Castle, Indiana, tell them you have a Montana High Country, 2018, 375FL and you need the front cap mirror. You can pay with credit card right over the phone and they'll ship it to you: https://walnutridgerv.com/

800-607-8827

The dealer you are dealing with is feeding you a line and a sinker. Walnut Ridge is great! Give them a call. The most they will say is "no." Nothing to loose, everything to gain!

Thank you for all of the quick replies.....all have their merit. I think I'm going to go the DutchmenSport route and call Walnut Ridge RV. Everyone take care and have a GREAT weekend! D

We are on our third mirror, and it’s getting cloudy already. Our FW is always stored inside. Now it is out of warranty, I’m wanting to try another route. Just a sorry product. Don’t really use it, but would like for it to look nice.

In ten years of full timing and almost 100,000 miles I have never used that mirror. The only time I remember it's there is when one of these posts comes up.

Although the mirror on my Monty is still in good shape, even from day one the image was not sharp enough to be of rel benefit when hooking up. My TV has a supercab so when hooking up, all I need to do is tip the inside rear view mirror down a little and I can see the hitch and the pin box. At that point, lining up is easy. I know this does not work as well with a crew cab.

Mine is all black..........gonna cover it with black vinyl. Then my wife, who is a school teacher, is going to use a Cricut to cut out our last name, city, and state in tan lettering like Mitchell did to his. Might as well make that space useful

Got a 2010 3665RE with a clear and shiny mirror that I've never used as it doesn't show anything useful. Two things: 1) Figure out if the thing will actually be useful before getting a new one. 2) Like all things Keystone, they're cutting costs and going cheaper on everything. Don't expect the new one to last long.

I use mine all of the time. I cannot see into the bed from the front seat. It is only good for about the last 2-3’ of hooking up but if I am centered, it works fine.

I'll chime in here. I too think this is an unnecessary piece of hardware on a trailer. I never used it when it was new because I can turn my head to see the hitch. I couldn't find it but someone else on another thread bought a vinyl decal (eagle I think) and cut it to fit. I have a friend that does custom vinyl and I'm going to have him make me something that fits that spot. Not sure what it will be yet but it will either be an eagle or a military theme.

Our trailer is a 2010 and have never used that mirror. Watch the hitch and then have to adjust height of hitch to clear bed saver when backing under.

Sorry you're having a tough time getting a replacement. I always use the mirror to hookup. I have a Revolver X2 tonneau cover and when it's rolled up behind the cap and cannot see my hitch or hitch pin. I do have a piece of yellow tape down the center of my bed and tail gate which I can see in the mirror. The tape tells me how close I am to center when hitching.

I never use mine. Maybe that is why it is still in good shape

Might you have a pic of your stripe? Mirror helps on the new 373, on the 305, could not see it. I think more of that had to be going from short bed to long ... Been thinking of a stripe idea
