I think they would simply settle to the top of the alide room. Worst case you would maybe have to brush them off to retract them, same as not having any.
The main concern for me and slide toppers is the wind. I know a guy with a 100,000 dollar Newmar coach that has had his ripped off 3X in the wind.

I just put toppers on about 3 munts ago and it is the best thing just went up to the mountains this last weekend had 30 mph winds on Friday no problems got 10" of snow on Saturday more snow on Sunday just pulled them in on Monday and moved on we have had toppers on 2 other 5ers and never had any problems wind or snow the best part when the snow melts you don't have all that water setting on your slides running into and under the seals!

Last 3 5ers all slides had toppers. Never had a problem. Two years ago the weather alerts would not stop with tornado warnings so shut them off to get back to sleep. Tornado hit 11 miles away and the winds were 40 - 45 mph with 60 mph gusts where we were at. Slept through that, never heard wind or the topper above my head flap. Branches down and stuff blew all over but no topper damage.

Toppers for us are a must. But we winter in Florida. Full time wintering in Colorado was tough on our toppers, and during periods of snow, I would ladder up and brush snow off. Ice buildup in my opinion especially damaging.

Put toppers on and have never looked back. Great in sun and shade and wind.
BTW where can you get a Newmar for only $100,000

Got them installed by the dealer at the time of purchase on special. Glad we did and never regretted.

Or somebody with terrible luck. We have had toppers since 2002, experienced some heavy winds, never have had a topper blow off.

They probably do! All I know is I have to hold my breath when I go by a dealership, there's no air available for me there.

Yes Mark I laugh at my own jokes. After all a sense of humor is a terrible thing to lose.

Never a issue with toppers on both our Montana's since 2006.We have never had snow or ice on them. Do not know what the experience is without toppers.

Toppers
Have toppers on our High Country as we did on our previous rig. Like them for convenience of not having to sweep off leaves, sticks, etc. but did have a "learning experience" when water froze on them last December. Evidently somehow the ice jammed between the edge of the slide and the side of the trailer and when retracting caused enough pressure to break some teeth off the cable drive gearbox on the largest slide, the other 2 were OK. I will know now to check for ice build up if we are in cold temps. Still would want toppers for the 99% of the time of no ice. They will sag just from rain but that runs off when retracting.
