Replaced The Dometic Thermostat
I finally had enough with these awful Dometic Thermostats. The cycling on and off. The 'run when it wants to'. I saw a post here on the MOC about Micro-Air direct replacements. They are $249.00 plus shipping.
https://www.microair.net/products/ea...32199143555156
So I thought if it saved me one bad trip of fighting with it, I'd go ahead and buy one. It is USA made !!!! It came today. I just put it in. It took me 13 minutes to put it in , and that included reading how to do it. There was only 3 small 12v wires to move. That's it ! I attached the photos. Once I turned the power on, it worked immediately. No set up needed. It even has an app on my phone to show the entire display and control it via Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. It cycles AC and the furnace as needed. No flipping a switch. It also can have AC and the heat pump on ''auto' as well. I can set a time for when I want it to come on. How hot or cold I want it, and some other features I haven't found yet. Very Very simple to hook up and operate. If all goes well this week on the road, I'll be ordering another one for the bedroom. I'll update next week. I'm hoping the hot days and cool nights will give me a good feel for how good this thig is.

Randy this sounds like a miracle cure for all of us. Once you report back on how it's going I will definitely be ordering two of them. Thank you for posting this.

Did you have a cyling problem on the bedroom a/c? Mine cyles on for 45-60 seconds off for 45-60 seconds without the compressor coming on. It will do this in the middle of the night over and over and then eventually the compressor comes on and it runs for a while cooling. Then it may cycle again when it calls for cooling
If this thermostat fixes this problem it will be well worth the $250. Tired of laying awake listening to the cycling wandering what the problem is.

They do make a single thermostat for dual AC units but I wouldn’t know how to wire mine up. My units are not connected in any way electronically. You’d have to run new wiring. So if this works as good as I think it will, buying a second thermostat is cheaper than rewiring the control.
My living room AC / heat pump would cycle all night long. 30 seconds on. Then off. I would finally get up and turn it off. My bedroom unit will not run AC on low or on Auto. It will only put out warm air unless it’s on High. It’s been this way since we took our first trip when new. After seeing the post about Micro-Air, I knew I had to try them. Almost too good to be true. But I am hopeful.

One observation, it will cycle between high and low fan as you get to the set point, the good thing is the compressor stays running.

Please keep us posted with a longer term update. I am really wanting to get one but just don't want to buy a spendy new thermostat and have it do what the Dometic does.

So far I love it , even gives outside temp must be a sensor in the rooftop unit, it's spot on. It looks nice too, should be what comes with the camper.

Following also, can't wait to see if the problem is fixed! I've been fighting this for nearly a year now and all Dometic wants to do is send me new face plates and the same CT thermostats.

One week end of use and love it, leave it in auto cool and heat pump and it will go from ac to heat pump to maintain temperature. This is what should come from the factory, plus wifi and Bluetooth are such a pleasure. I would use this tstat even if the pos domteic one worked, I’ll be ordering 2nd four bedroom ac today.

You put it on cool auto and select heat pump as well? Then it uses both to moderate the temp up or down? That makes it even nicer. Thanks.

Yes, could be heat pump or furnace, looks nice too plus you can monitor temp if you have wifi, make adjustments.

Just returned from our first trip with the new Thermostat. It works fantastic. Never cycled on and off, like the old Dometic one. I had the AC/ Heat Pump setting on. The AC ran all day, the heat pump came on at night automatically. The next night I set it to AC/Furnace setting. Same result. The display is large and can be read anywhere in the fiver. It's back lit. If it's Red, the heat is on. If it's Blue, the AC is on. If it's white it's idle. Everyone needs these. Any one wanting 2 slightly used Dometic thermostats, I'll give you a couple. ( slightly used, because they never worked)
I just ordered a second Micro-Air for the bedroom. Attached are some photo's of the display. Notice you can set a high and low temp, in Away mode. That is nice.
Also I was cold during the night one night. I picked up my phone and set the thermostat warmer. Within a second the AC kicked off and Heat pump started. I never rolled the covers down. That is very nice.
I recommend everyone getting one.
I insulated both walls with non expanding foam inside behind the thermostat. I put it all the way around the open hole inside the wall. Be careful. It expands a little. Don't over fill the wall. It will squirt out, making a giant mess.
Two thumbs up from this Guy!!!
