Blown Hydralic Line

Have a 2003 Montana 3295RK which just blew the end off the hydralic line to the bedroom with the slide out.

I tried to heat shrink tubing with duct tape on the tubing and fitting but immediately blew off. Any way to manually retract the slide and/or any pointers to replace the line.

Yea, that 1500+ P.S.I. will defeat shrink wrap and duct tape in a hurry.

I remember reading here that they make a replacement fitting. I know about splices but I haven't seen a replacement fitting. But Napa, Grainger, or a local hydraulic shop should know.

The other way is to remove the bed, get access to the ram, disconnect the blown line, tie a thin rope or heavy string to it and pull it it out. Take it a local hydraulic shop (or Napa or Grainger or ?) who can make a new one for you. Then use the pull rope to feed it back up to the bed and reconnect.

You should be able to push the slide in with some help after you removed the bed and disconnect the ram from the slide wall. The ram should collapse out of the way with the blown hose otherwise just remove it altogether.

I have used a temporary field service fitting and then replaced the hose with new fittings. I measured the hose with a little extra length so as to not be too short without removing it, and used a union to tie the old and new hose together and then pulled the new hose thru the underbelly. You will need to find a hydraulic hose repair shop and have it made up.

For what it’s worth….. most residential a/c repair facilities make their own hoses for a/c systems. It is the same equipment for repairing hydraulic lines. I have used these businesses when on the road and needing a hydraulic line repaired.

Typically under the BR hydraulic slide (Craddle style) you will find any excess hose wrapped up like shown in this image from my 2014 Keystone Alpine BR slide..

You could use the field repair kit for JIC37 fitting here but I would not unless no other choice..

A new hydraulic hose made at a local NAPA store or hydraulic shop is the way I would go since this hose is inside and under the bed

As the other folks stated manually disconnect the hydraulic cylinder from BR craddle slide and push in manually.

** then use a block of wood on the inside top of that slide roof to keep the slide from wanting to extend out then towing down the road

Then when you get to a place to make new hose install, cycle slide a few times to purge air and check hydraulic reservoir fluid level

I have same unit, will be interesting to see how repair works. BTW, how are your decals working? I have been striping mine off little by little over couple years?
