why do others stare at montana's

I have made a observation sitting at the campground with a big group of folks talking. It is that when a montana trailer comes through the park it seems every eye that is awake turns and looks till it passes. Other trailers go by and some look others kinda look and turn back quickly. The normal words spoken are from women and they say something loudly like " bob there is one of those big montana's trailers" I just sit back and smile !! LOL ever heard this talk??

Tommy, welcome to the forum. I have not heard or experienced this "Montana envy" yet. Usually the stares I get are from other campers because I did something stupid like leaving the TV antenna up, or forgetting to put the dump valve cap back on etc. Now if someone pulls in with a TV like a Freightliner M2 or something similar, now that gets the stares!!

...or make double posts...

Actually, we enjoy being at campsites where we get to watch the rigs come and go. If its a monster rig we get on the internet and look at the floorplan!! We get nods as we pull into a nice park, Montanas as a rule are known for quality construction and innovative use of space.

With our rear window inside shades up and the outside sunshade down we can see out but nobody can see in. We've several times noticed couples walking by and one will point to the Montana and say something to the other. We've often wondered what it is they are saying.

Since we bought our Monty, my DW points out all of the other Montanas where ever we go. She always makes a count of how many are in the campground. Also, it is a great conversation starter with other Monty owners. We have met some great people at the different CGs but Monty owners are always the nicest....

I don't know what Glenn has. Ours was installed by our dealer. It is an A&E and they had just come out with this width shade last August. We have the full window in the rear, not the three piece. This shade is 3/4 inch shorter on each side than the width of the window but it is not noticeable. Ours is white. It allows plenty of light into the coach but cuts out the glare of the sun and keeps a lot of heat out of the rig. It's a pulldown. I just use an awning rod to grab the loop and pull it down. A rod across the bottom of the shade slides under a hook on each side of the window, just below the window. I hope this explains it.

We know the feeling. In campgrounds we are usually known as 'That big unit" The 3400 is big and it is pretty and you do not see many Montana's in these parts. Example we have the biggest unit in our local camping group including the MH's.

This picture really makes the shade look too narrow. But between the "edging" around the window outside and the curtain thingys inside, it's not at all noticeable from inside.

We just went with the sunguard sunscreen which we velcro...the shade would be easier to use though.

Know what you mean about the looks. At the campground we stay at they call ours the "WHITE HOUSE".
