Breakers
we've had our 2014 3582RL for about 20 months now, in April we took it in to the dealer for problems with the slides and leveling system stopping in mid use, it turned out to be a breaker went bad $250 later, the dealer also added an extra breaker to help out but I have had to replace one today, I'm starting to wonder what might be causing this could it be a bad breaker or something worse, any ideas ???

When we had that problem Keystone paid to replace the original breaker with an 80amp breaker. They said the wiring in our rig could handle it and it solved the problem permanently.

Ditto Dick, 80 amp autoreset breaker for a little over $20 from waytekwire.com.

Instead of calling Keystone, maybe a call to Lippert would be a better option. It was Lippert's fix for the problem. Sounds like the phone person at Keystone might be a newbe, and wasn't told about the fix that most of us have already installed.

I also put 80A in, and have had no problems.

I am always curious when this topic comes up, and it does many times with the same recommendations of changing the Auto reset breaker to a higher amperage, however does the same condition happen when you are plugged into shore power, if it does then you might actually have a problem with the breaker if it does not then as with my 3402RL the converter is supplying additional power/current to the batteries and helps the battery maintain a higher voltage. (higher voltage less amp draw)
My Montana is now 3 years old, I have two 6V batteries now 2 years old, I have never had the breaker trip as long as I am plugged into shore power. I remain plugged in until all slides are in before disconnecting and plug in prior to deploying the slides when setting up, never had a problem. Now I realize some must do these things when shore power is not available and therein lies the problem. If the battery/batteries are not sufficient to maintain a proper voltage the current draw to run the hydraulic pump increases significantly (beyond the 50 amps of the breaker) and the breaker trips, after repeated tripping of the breaker it weakens and the condition appears more often.
If the dealer replaced the breaker and added an additional one and ran them in Series then nothing was accomplished, you still only have a 50 amp breaker, if their intent was to increase the current capacity of the breaker/s then they must be run in Parallel, you would then have 100 amps as the load would be spread over the two breakers.
There is no mystery as to why this happens, it is all about voltage drop and increased current draw due to that voltage drop, maintaining a proper voltage with the assistance of the converter or more battery capacity eliminates the problem, changing out the breaker to an 80 amp just allows the motor to operate under a less than ideal voltage. Your batteries are now almost 2 years old, perhaps it is time to upgrade them.

It will do it with shore power also if the temperatures are low. That's why Keystone approved the replacement under warranty.

we like Ed always operate the slides on shore power. Shore power is the fist thing we hook up and the last thing to unhook. We are never in cold weather. The slides on our 2013 3402 have always worked perfect with the OEM breaker. I have never looked at it to see what the rating is.

Our slides would start/stop even when plugged in. Replaced the 50 amp breaker with a new 50 amp breaker and a year later started failing again. I added a second breaker (two 40 amp breakers in parallel to replace the failed 50 amp breaker) and no more problem in 4 years.
