Securing molding ...

Need advice on securing molding at the ceiling in kitchen area, on a 2021 Montana 3762 BP, why are Keystone still using stables, that will not hold?

I used trim screws to fasten the crown moldings

I applied a small bead of clear silicone the used trim screws installed at opposing angles. I left the factory nails in the trim and stuck it back in place by hitting the same holes. I had to straighten or realign some of the nails. Then I used the trim screws…put one in angled this way…move down 18” or so and put one in angled that way. The trim screws are black and you can see them if you look hard. I did not putty the heads to hide them. My inspector (DW) approved the job!

I used 1" long pieces of double-sided tape at about 6" spacing. Added a couple screws on an angle at the end. As you are attaching to 1/8" thick Luan board, I figured that adhesive was better than nails or staples. This has held through some pretty good road bumps.

To answer your question of why, because it’s cheap and holds the trim in place long enough to sell the unit. After that they don’t care.
I have used a combination of liquid nails, finishing nails or finishing screws depending on the application.

I used air staples and liquid nails when both pieces fell off on our 3121RL earlier this trip.

Securing Molding.

Thanks to all who replied. I used screws. Very poor workmanship, shame on Keystone.. Those of us who have owned several RV's tag alongs, 5th wheel and a Motor Home, knows there is poor to terrible workmanship. There is NO quality control.
