B&W Companion set up??
OK guys, I have my new truck '18 3500hd dually 4x4 and I am going to use a B&W Companion. My rig is a '13 3625 Big Sky advertised 2270 pin and just shy of 13000. My question.. for a level rig where do I need to start with the adjustments. I know some of you have a similar truck and trailer. I would like to not have to take the hitch apart a dozen times. Thanks

Guess at it. Then move up or down to get what you need.

You have long bed or short bed?
I have a 2017 Silverado High Country crew cab long bed dually 4x4 with a B&W Companion.I forget but will check where I set the adjustment.Set it once first time and with a Montana 3731FL weighing in a little over 13,000 and pin weight at 22....2300 lbs it sets perfect with 6” clearance above top tailgate.
Toes perfect.
By the way when loaded the truck is level. So the extra height in the rear of the 4x4 from factory was a plus.

Have you guys ACTUALLY scaled your rigs or are you going by published numbers put out there by Keystone. If not, you should do so and will more than likely be surprised! Our 2018 3791RD ready for travel with empty tanks is 16,820 with a pin @3,500. These are CAT Scale verified and I am legal (barely). Pin is 21% which is in recommended range.

You really cant level the trailer with the hitch. You can get it close but the hitch adjustment is mostly for bed clearance. To fine tune level you will need air bags. The air bags do many things besides lifting the rear of the tyruck to level the trailer. However they don't increase the towing capacity of your rig. I highly recommend them on any 3/4 or 1 ton truck. I also recommend a on board air pump. So much easier to just switch on the pump to air up or down the bags instead of dragging out a air pump every time you need to air up.
