Westlake Super St 16 inch tires on SOB trailers

Went to a local RV dealer to check out their parts dept. I guess it's a "no no" to identify other brand names on this forum. The 5th wheel trailers I saw with the Westlake Super St tires are manufactured by some of the Executive that used to run Keystone and then sold Keystone to Thor. These executive are now manufacturing the SOB trailers. By the way the tires are made in China. One of the SOB trailers is being marketed as an "upper end" extended stay trailer, but it has Chinese tires. Go figure.

You mean Grand Designs Solitude? yeah those Westlake's are No better or worse than Trailer Kings that Montana use or GY marathons .etc... these ST E Rated tires are just not the right tire for the job for these heavier rigs, My friend has a Solitude and his Westake's are starting to have problems so he will be changing to G rated tires like Me soon

Unfortunately, it's always about the bottom line. Profitability has replaced integrity IMO.

They do have a recall on their LT tires.

There are some SOB MFRers that do take a hint. I know one upper end MFR that was putting on Marathons with the 614s as an option. After enough problems they switched to 614s as the OEM with the 114 17.5" as an option.
Wish more MFRs would wise up as we're not all one or two weekends a year users.

The West lake tires they are using now are DOT certified G rated 14 ply. 4080# carrying capacity on single axle. Not defending them just pointing out fact....

Just do a Search on Westlake tire, then follow the link to their parent company, then draw your own conclusions. They will not be on anything I own.
