Verizon Home Phone Connect

The current issue of Trailer Life has an article on the Verizon Home Phone Connect.

If your not familiar with the product, it is a cell device that you connect to a regular wireless home phone. It works just like being hardwired to a phone system.

It has a flat rate of $19.99 per month (after a $35.00 activation fee) and offers unlimited local and long distance calling as well as voice mail, caller ID and three way calling.

We were considering getting a Magic Jack device but our Wi-Fi is not very reliable in this park so we thought we would try the home phone connect. So far we like it.

It will never replace your cell phone but I'll bet with a DC to AC convertor in the TV you could use it going down the road.

I would have it but it won't work with a Fax machine. Att also has it at $10 a month, I think. How can they offer this for 10 or $20 dollars and a cell phone is $50 a month?

Thanks Allan,

I picked one up today for my work at home phone line. Magic Jack just has never worked that well. Now I am all set to work remotely. Since I spend 2-4 hours a day on the phone, this will work out great.

I think with all taxes and surcharges it works out to $30.00 a month, but now I can work anywhere there is cell services, and not worry about eating up my cell minutes.

Here is what I use.

A Bluetooth-enabled cordless phone system and my current cell phone.
Basically it works like the hands free ear piece.

Initial cost of around $80 or so can't remember exactly, and zero a month.
If I need to make international calls I have magic jack on my cell for $20 a year!
