Well, I went to the big city....

This morning I had to make the long trip into town, as I got further into the city, I wondered where all these cars and trucks came from, 8 lanes of traffic, wow!. They had one lane reserved for HOV ???, guess if you look into it, and give them some money, you can drive there. Not too many folks over in that lane.
I somehow wound up in a place called Scotts dale, lots of one-way streets and places to shop, looked real fancy. I parked my truck on the street and started walking around. All the women who passed by smelled real good, the men smelled real good too. I was hoping I smelled Ok, did a little sniffing and couldn’t smell anything bad, so I kept walking.
The folks walking around must have heard that is was going to get cold today, cause they all had sweaters tied to their necks, guess that was smart, I would have had to walk a couple of blocks to get my jacket, but it stayed pretty warm, so I was OK.
As I was walking around I noticed that the restaurants must have all been clear full, cause people were having to sit on the sidewalk and eat, must have been embarrassing to have to sit out there.
I got a little uneasy and wanted to go home real bad, just too many folks, all bunched up.
I saw a family coming down the sidewalk, they looked real prosperous, so I figured they knew how to get out of there. I was going to ask the kids how to get out of town, but they were all pecking at their phones, I thought it was unusual for 3 of the phones to all quit, and need pecked at, all at once.
The lady was very nice when I asked her how to get back to Tonopah, but she thought it was an Indian Reservation up by Sedona. I told her no, it was west of town, she told me she had a home in Palm Springs, so she might be able to help. I said it was in the desert, but she said she doesn’t go in the desert.
I just got back in the truck and drove what I thought was the right way for a half hr or so, and I saw the road I came in on, what a relief!
I love getting back where there are wide open spaces, I always grin when I see the little desert varmits running real fast across the road with their tails high in the air, I yell at them: “Run Forrest, run!!”
It’s good to be back home.

Scottsdale is like a box of chocolates.... You just never know how someone's going to smell!

Just remember when you come back to Kansas, smelling the guys could get you in trouble. Cowboys are just like that.

LOL. Scottsdale is the Beverly Hills of Phoenix but with protected land and cactus. You can have a big spread but you can't cut down any of the cactus. We visit friends there and its wonderful how they built the mansions complete with lots of landscaping, pool, spa, etc. but everything is worked around the trees and cactus.

Not surprised some would have homes in Palm Springs which demonstrated the damage caused by these same people that were allowed to remove all the vegetation, landscape over everything and plant things not intended for the place. Talk about a destroyed ecosystem. I suppose Scottsdale was the antithesis.

I like your story - it was hilarious since I could relate. I'm guessing the 3 kids that hung up in unison were probably conference calling each other, then checked the Internet to look for the same movies to see where they were playing and where they would go next. Movie theaters are about the only place you get to turn off your cell phone so you aren't bothered every 30 seconds by a text, email or Internet need. Not that it stops the idiots to step out of the theater to check on status, then interrupt you once again when they return.

What a great post. We have a grocery store in Dripping Springs now (HEB). I hate going into Austin, if I can buy local I do. When I go to Austin I think of it as a day trip excursion.

We have two road runners now along with the red tail hawk that has been hanging around for several years. Maybe the road runners came to the water we put out last summer. Oh gosh have buzzards taking up roosting in a near by tree...... should I be worried? If I can get quail back on the property I will be a happy camper.

Thanks!
You have a wonderful place there, great location for a home. You are close to a town, but have a bit of isolation as well.
Keep an eye on those Buzzards!
