Furance on new 3150 and artic package?

we just got a 2010 3150 and the furance is a lot louder than our old 2000 terry. is this typical to have a loud furance?

and it kicks on a lot more freqently than i thought it would.

also, i thought montanas had an artic package but our 2010 doesn't mention that on the label outside the entrance door. how can i tell if i got the max insulation package, or is it just standard now?

Sandie, I'm not sure how it works in the 2010 models but would bet it's the same as prior years. In earlier years it was part of one of the packages but that package was a "mandantory option." Every Montana gets it, in other words. If you can remove a screw or two from the bellypan and shine a light inside you'll probably see a thin shiny blanket of some kind of material. That's the arctic package. It's a thin sheet but is effective.

Where is your furnace located (how close to you) in the coach relative to its location in your Terry? Is the noise you refer to the blower or is the propane burner making a lot of noise?

Congratulations on the new 3150! I hope you get lots of years of enjoyment with it.

congrats on the new unit.there has been other chats about these topic.since these is a new unit have the dealer check to see if everthing is tighted down good also some people have taken the thremostate off the wall and put some insulation behind it the chats have said that there is a draft that comes from behind the wall and makes the furnace come on more because of the draft.

Sandie, The 2010 3150 Montana Fifth Wheel should not be that loud when the furnace kicks on. There may be a problem with the fan motor or blades or even mud dobbers that will get in openings and the fan blades may be hitting something. The heater are usually very quiet. All Montana's come with the Zero Degree system for true four seasons camping. You may want to take your coach to your dealer and have it checked out. Good luck

Depends on what you consider 'loud.' I think ours is loud, too, but anytime you've got a fan blowing, it's going to be what I think is 'loud.'

One reason for a louder furnace in the newer models could be the double return air grills. This allows for more noise to come back into the coach from the furnace area than our 2007 3400, which only has one grill in the stairs.

Of coure we can not hear how loud it is because we are not there to hear it..But one reason things seem so loud in a camper is because everything is close. Our stick house furnace is running now but I can not hear it. Only know it is on by the hot air from the register but if I went two levels down and stood outside the utility room about 10 feet away it would be loud.

We have the artic package on our 5th wheel and we sure wouldn't want to try to survive in an artic environment. At 40 degrees F and lower our furnace runs allot. As richfaa has stated often in the past, We somehow missed the "warm and comfy" option.

We got our 2010 3455SA in May.It doesn't have the Arctic label either. The dealer asked Keystone about it and was told that they have discontinued the labels but that the Arctic insulation package was mandatory.

The "artic package" and the "zero tested" claim, IMHO are jokes. No way you can be anywhere near comfortable in one of these things in any weather much below 40 without continuously running the furnace or supplemental electrical heaters.

The "tester" probably spent one night in one Montana and said, "yep it's tested and it's cold!"

Tlightning,

If the Artic package does anything at all, I sure wouldn't want to be without it. However, one would expect our Montana's to at least slow down the wind!
