Air bags

Hi guys and gals, I need some expert advice. Installed the Firestone air bags on my dodge today and the instructions say to have one valve for each bag. I thought it would be safer to have one valve for both. What have you done and why ?

thank you. Bill

I installed the firestones last week and used one valve per bag. I ran the lines straight back to the two upper license plate bracket holes after removing the screws and now have easy access to the valves.

I think if you're going to manually adjust your bags and want them to be of equal pressure one valve would suffice. If, however, you have a load heavier on one side or a controller you'd want two valves.

I use one valve for each bag (a total of two valves). I wouldn't want to run one line clear across underneath the box of the truck to get to the other bag. It's no problem airing them up. I just use my little 12 volt portable compressor. Works great. For me, I use 50 psi in each bag.

I know the guys with slidein campers use a valve for each bag because of the unequal weight distribution inherent in the slidein. But unless you intend having something in the bed that causes an imbalance, a single valve would be fine. The other advantage of a single valve is both bags automatically get the same pressure.

I had two valves but changed to one valve, eaiser to get the bags equal. Unless you need to level your truck from side to side one valve is all you need.

Thanks for all the good advice. I decided to go with one valve because side to side leveling is not needed. Thanks again.

This is the second truck that I've had them on and love them. I have the onboard air compressor and it pumps them both up together (like one valve). I'd hate to think of what would happen if one side got a sudden leak at highway speeds! At least with one valve both sides of your TV would drop together.Just a thought

For no more reason than rubble express stated above I used just one valve. While towing the Monty down the Interstate there is no way in HE%& I want one bag to fail while the other stays inflated.
