Suggestion for New Forum(?)
One of our major concerns is service while fulltiming. Reading the posts here have made me think that maybe (?) a really useful separate forum would be one where people who have identified great dealerships could list them.
We are not fulltiming yet, but I think that when we have a problem requiring service we will need it quickly and from a reliable source. If a lot of locations were already listed, a search would find them ASAP without having to wait for responses and without possibly missing a service source because someone who knows the right place just wasn't going through all the posts at that time. Also, since we won't have a fixed home site, it appears that we should purchase our rig through the best servicing dealer no matter where this would be.
Once again, we are very new to this site, so I'm just throwing this out as an idea. I have a lot of interest in this but not much experience.
What do you experienced frequent users think about the possibilities/difficulties of this? (Or, is there a better way?)
Thanks for "listening."
Larry

A list of good service providers sounds like a good idea, Larry, but I suspect you are thinking of a separate "thread" or "Subject", rather than a new forum,in which case you could start a thread yourself. Maybe Administration would even make it a sticky, which means it stays at the top of the thread for everyone to see. A good place might be under "Problems" as the information would provide solutions for those having a problem. Welcome to the forum.

Or maybe Glenn could put this on his website for MOC support. The only problem is he has to do all the typing.
Happy trails...............

Seems to me that someone has already started a thread on this issue. If you haven't searched for it you might try that.
But are you suggested a New Category? That might be something look at.
Also we are attempting to get a "Helping Hands" type system going. One of the items that would be in the list would be what you are talking about. Basically we would establish a list of volunteers around North America that are interested in helping folks that might need info or help when they get into a volunteers area.

RVWHEELS, I think the helping hands idea is a good one. I would certainly volunteer to help.

I think this is a great idea. Much like the Good Sam support system. You can count on us (when we are home).
Happy trails....................

I second that idea. What do others think?

Hi all - this has to be some coincidence. Ronni & I were just talking a few moments before I read this post about Helping Hands. She said You know we ought to suggest something on this forum similar to what Good Sam has established with their members offering to help fellow members when they are in our area and needing info or help. A few seconds later I read her the post. Obviously we think it is a great idea too and would most certainly be willing to participate when we are not on the road. Any others?

How similar to Good Sam's organization are you thinking?

Put me on the list. I would certainly help fellow MOCers if they were in my area. Maybe this should be a separate Category and could be populated by Administration as volunteers sign up. I know, all good ideas degenerate into work

You can add Diana and myself to your helping hands program. I also think Larry's Service category would be a great idea.

We think this would be a great idea---just posted about the same response under another topic. As fulltimers, we often don't have any real economic clout to change attitudes regarding service from dealers, etc. If there were a category (The good, the bad and the ugly, for example), where we could list businesses were we have been well served and those where we haven't so we could support them or deny them as they deserve. Often we are at the mercy of the yellow pages. I belong to the ELKS primarily so we can get recommendations to good businesses when we are stuck.
