Potential Future High Country Owner

Hi all,

The missus and I have been searching the net and going to RV Shows in search of our next trailer in anticipation of her retirement in less than 2 years. I viewed a Montana High Country 293RK at the Hershey RV Show, and just traveled about 250 miles round trip last weekend so the missus could view a model. It seems to have most everything we want/need in a 5th wheel (although a bit longer than I wanted), and if the model is still made when we are ready to purchase, and we hope to get on the road with a unit in the near future.

Any input with 293RK members would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, we are Chap and Joy, along with our fur-baby Sango from the Blue Ridge Foothills near Charlottesville, Va.

Welcome to the forum. I don't have a High Country, but know a number of members who do and are very happy with them. Good luck on your future purchase and we hope to meet you down the road someday.

I have a 323 HC. I'm very pleased with it. I live west of Salem and would be very pleased to let you look at it and even use it for a few days.

Welcome to the forum Chap and Joy! As of Dec. 1 we have been full timing in our 318RE with the exception of this past April while getting our S&B ready to sell. While several don't think the HC is built for full timing, we have had no major problems. We really like our rig and feel it is taking good care of us on our journey.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome !! It is good to hear that those that own the High Country (or know people that do) are well pleased with their units.

mlh, It is nice to hear from someone in the neighborhood.....well, within about a 100 miles. Thanks for the offer, and might take you up on the look-see if we are in that area.

I will be asking plenty of questions here, as I am now towing a Surveyor bumper pull, and gotta do the switch to the 5th wheel.......including a new truck.

Chap and Joy. Hi. Please refer to our post on New Member from Plymouth, MI. We too, have on order a High Country. A model 343RL. My wife Vicki too, scoured the internet searching for what she hopes is perfect for our needs. We are in the process of purchasing now, too, with hopes to retire in 2-3 years. This hopefully, will allow us to get any kinks out, enjoy our trailer and get it paid off, prior to retirement. Our intent is to "Not" be a full-timer, but to enjoy, long trips around the country once or twice a year or so. Welcome to the forum.....we're both going down a similar journey. Best of luck to you. We can keep in touch. Dave.

Dave, it would be great if we could purchase now to work the kinks out of the our dream 5th wheel. But, we have decided to wait until the missus retires, we move to a smaller house in a less expensive area, and hopefully have enough equity in our house to pay for the 5th wheel and a 1 ton truck. A new diesel truck plus the 293RK is gonna run about $100k, but hopefully only have to shell out about $70k after I sell my current F150 and Surveyor camper.

Time will tell.

The wife and I just purchased a 2014 293RK about 2 months ago. We're full timing in it and don't find it too small but we're both in the 5.5 foot tall range. There are some sloppy construction issues but nothing really bad, just annoying. The biggest issue for us is the sleeping arrangements. It was advertised as sleeping 4 or 6 depending on which ad you look at but configured with the standalone table and chairs, theater seating and the little jackknife couch, there's no other bed than the master. We didn't realize that until we took delivery since we assumed the couch was the pull out airbed kind.

Welcome, The wife and I looked at the 2015 293RK and decided the 2015 305RL suited us best, the couch is a queen size fold out with a mattress and the 3rd slide gives a ton of extra space in the living area. We did not like the jacknife couch or the fire place in the entry at all. We have been very satisfied with the quality so far. We have been on 2, 3 night trips and 1 week long trip with a week planed in Saint Augustine FL. for Christmas.
Loving every minute. Can't wait until the end of 2015 to retire.
