Thanks "Together We Served"

Thanks to an earlier posting I joined the TOGETHER WE SERVED website. There was a buddy I served with in Germany and Viet Nam. I had not been able to track him down. The administrators on that site were able to get his home address and phone number within 48 hours upon my request for assistance! I called him yesterday and we talked for the first time in over 40 years. We are exchanging old photos and will be trying to track down more friends. My wife and I have many things to be thankful for this year including #11 grandson on the way, but reconnecting with a buddy that I experienced so much with, at a young age, was very special. I encourage any vets out there to reach out and reconnect with those they served with. I held off calling him for a few days and I don't know why. After about 2 minutes into the conversation it was like we were 18 years old again standing there catching up on old times. It was an amazing feeling.

I belong to the same website. I have had multiple folks reach out and contact me thru the website, perhaps the most meaningful several of the younger NCOs I was responsible for in Vietnam as a Rifle Company Commander who took it upon themselves to keep me out of trouble.

Great story. Glad you made the reconnect. No one can understand the bond that exists unless you've been there.

Sounds great. I did also join the site but to date have not had time to start looking up old Buddies. Am hoping as the new year rolls around I can get down to a normal (what ever that is) flow and have more time for things like this. In the meantime, a very Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to everyone on here, be safe and enjoy each others company. Happy Trails, Steve and Susie
