Hello all. I have noticed a 6"crack under the bedroom slide out. I've tried the archives but can't seem to find any thing . Anyone have a similar problem and if so, do you know what caused it? Thanks for any help.

I forgot to mention that it's a 2000 montana 32'.

Most have a crack from top to bottom of bottom facia, but are covered by trim mldg. That is beneath the slide at the rear corner.

This was a problem with the early Montana's. Since then they have placed a slit in the fiberglass coming straight down from the lower left corner of the bedroom slide covered with a vinyl trim strip. There was a recall for the frames on the earlier Montana's and yours may be covered under this recall. I would call Montana customer service and ask.

On our 06, not only did it crack, but a large chunk fell out. Keystone replaced it during one of the rallies.

What Charlie said ... I had a 2000 2850RK with your issue. The siding beneath the front bottom side was so thin dimension wise not thickness wise, it most always cracked in those years as the pin box area does move around a bit in normal use. Like said, Keystone had a service bulletin out back then that entailed the vendor to groove out the siding and place a vinyl-like "H" shaped expansion joint over the newly cut groove, then sealed it with caulking. With the age of your unit, I don't know if Keystone still has the kits around, but all you can do is inquire.

Thanks to all who replied. I didn't know about the service bulletin. I'll phone Keystone and inquire. Probably too old of a unit but maybe they can give me a quick (and cheap) fix. Thanks again.

Our 2000 did the same thing. Took the rig to a recommended truck builder who repaired the front end of the rig (beefed it up) and it has been solid since then. Total cost was $3200. It was seven years out of warranty at the time of repair. Fairly common problem at the time. That area of the rig has a lot of stress on it and it happens to be the weakest area of the rig.

We had a 2001 that did the same and as Orv said,$3200.00, This was in 2011.

Stress cracks are not uncommon, and while the cosmetic fix is a simple fiberglass repair, fixing the cause often requires installation of an expansion joint or other frame modifications. Otherwise, the crack will reoccur.

Yes your right. I'll take it in and get the front siding removed so I can have a look underneath at the structure. I'll forget about the cheap cosmetic and get to the root of the problem because the trailer is in such excellent shape otherwise. Thanks for steering me in the right direction.
