Dont know the cost of those tires, but just repacked the wheel bearings, and while the wheels were off, noticed PSI Specs were stamped on the inside of each rim, mine reflected 110PSI which is good for a G load tire.
LOL, maybe Keystone is making it "cheaper" now for us to have to replace the bad tires by at least giving us wheels that can handle the tire replacement.

If new marathons were any better than the old ones Goodyear wouldn't have been willing to trade my used Marathons for 5 new G614's mounted and balance for only $800 in just 5 months ago. They know those tires don't belong on rigs this heavy and they didn't even argue with me. If they had believed differently they wouldn't have done that deal with me.
Dick, did you make the deal with Goodyear through a dealer? Also, what did you do for new wheels to handle the higher psi?

Just called Goodyear customer service and ask for a supervisor. Didn't get one, but told the guy that "he knew and I knew Marathons didn't belong on my rig. It wasn't Goodyears fault but when the tires started to blow we would be talking again about paying for damages etc. What can we do to avoid that?" He put me on hold for quite a while, then told me to take the rig to a Goodyear dealer (for us 46 miles one way). The Goodyear dealer measured the tread wear and called Goodyear back and then gave me the price. You have a new trailer so the wheels will take the pressure, it's only the older Montana's where the wheels must be changed.

Thanks Dick, I thought I had to change out the wheels too. At least it will be a little cheaper than I thought.

I buy American tires whenever I can
I would not put E rated American tires on a 3665RE!
I have always replaced my OEM trailer tires to match GVWR. Axle load on tandem axle trailers is extremely dynamic!
Unlike on a four-corner tired wagon (or truck), uneven travel surfaces transfer load from one axle to the other constantly.
My rule of thumb as was the rule on our farm and equipment trailers, was to always use GVWR as fudge factor for tandem axle trailers.
We also NEVER used tires that were more than 5 years old, no matter how much thread was left on them!
We NEVER replaced failed tires due to "blow-out" .
most of these trailers were in the H and L tire range when fudging to the GVWR
If my GVWR requires a G rated tire and the only G rated tire available was from China, I would not buy an E tire simply because it was the one made in America!
The reason we see axle-shackle failure is also because static load minus tongue weight is all that is required per DOT for GAWR when building trailers. Load dynamics on the highway are dramatic on tandem axle trailers, and are not part of the equation when we only think of a trailer at rest.

The failures of G614s I have read about were on the tandem axles of MHs and LARGE (17k) fifth wheels.
These folks were also mad and surprised because the tires were rated for GAWR and exploded.

Thanks for the replies everyone. MOC members are the greatest.

I will keep the Goodyear G614s and swap them onto the new wheels.

We went to the Dallas RV Show to look for any small incidental bargains and left with a new rig. After looking at the new ones at last fall's national rally in Goshen and then again in the Circle in Quartzsite, the new rig fever was already hot by the time we hit the RV show. Penny was ready to buy in Goshen and then again in Q and the RV show was just too much to resist. We are both happy and one more good thing is that I don't have to replace the shower door that shattered while at Q.

See ya down the road sometime.

JJ

p.s. for those who Penny talked to at Quartzsite, the surgeon told her today she could/should get her right knee replaced. Scheduled for March 7.
