Air Conditioner problem
Our air conditioner has been working fine. This morning, the duct in the living room where the cold air comes out started to leak and drip on the floor.
Any ideas what happened? Is it frozen (sweating) above the duct and is melting? What should I do???
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is this the lo profile one? I am having mine replaced with the standard height 15000 BTU for the same reason. Hope you are still under warranty!

What is the lo profile air conditioner? I believe I have the 15000 BTU air conditioner. I thought that was standard.

The lo profile unit is also known as the Penguin. It is noticably lower than the standard unit. You can go to the Dometic web site and see the units.

Go to News from Keystone. It will tell you all about your problem. We had same problem. They replaced the drip tray, problem solved. Good Luck.

hi,
it is true that a drip tray problem will cause this, also it may be due to the coils freezing up. this occurs from two things which must happen together. first the AC must be running constantly for a given time, ussually 3 or 4 hours with us, without the compressor shutting down, that is the room never reaches the set point on the thermostate. second the fan control switch is in the low speed position. when the freeze up occurs, the volumn of air will appear to be reduced drastically. we make sure the fan is in high and on in the manual mode, then shut down the compressor, cool/off/heat switch to the off mode. with the fan still running on high. the air will stay cool, then get colder as the ice melts, then the volumn will increase and finally the air will start to warm. at this point you can go back to AC in the cool position, leave the fan on high till the compressor is cycling in responce to the thermostate setting.
happy trails, grey ghost

alan,
Try lowering the front of your trailer and see if it stops leaking. If so it is because your pan is too shallow and the a/c unit fan sucks the water into the living area. We also had the same problem and it was solved by the dealer replacing the lo unit with the old style taller unit. Our dealer told us that they quit replacing the pan with a deeper one because people were bringing the unit back with it still leaking. Some people have said that the pan replacement was a good fix for them. Either way it should be covered under warranty because the a/c unit has it's own seperate warranty that is longer than the trailer warranty.

If it's not the low profile, are you running it with fan on low and humidity pretty high? The duotherm is notorious for freezeups so maybe you're getting a little ice that then melts and drips? Just a thought.
