Shade problems
We took delivery of our 2007 3400RL in August. Shortly thereafter the shade next to the dining table self-destructed. The dealer ordered a new one, it was installed, and it came apart within a week. Last night the shade at the rear came apart. The clip holding the top of the white part of the shade comes off and the shade shoots out, and is impossible to put back in without damaging the shade. I don't understand why whomever made these shades didn't fasten or glue the end caps on so they won't come off. Can I expect the rest of the shades to come apart at some point or did Keystone get a batch of "lemons" that got installed on our unit? Anyone else have problems with their shades coming apart? Thanks for any advice.

Yep...we had ours come off, but no big deal we fixed it. I agree that they could have done a better job securing the caps, otherwise the day/night shades work really well.

I have become convinced that this problem can be averted if the tension on the cords is reduced. If you adjust the tension at the little bobbins where the cords are anchored, so that there is just enough tension to hold the blinds up, you will find that they go up and down smoothly without coming apart.
I would suspect that whoever installed yours, got them a bit too tight. Anyway, give it a try and see if it helps.

Good to hear Ontmont,
We'll try that, Like Drjjj ours have come apart a doz times in the last year. Hard to figure out how the caps can come off and the shades can slide out of the track in a heartbeat. But rip apart when you just try to slide the shade back into the track. I haven't crazy glued the end caps on, fearing they might not come apart if I ever needed them to.

We must be one of the fortunate ones. In our 2000 Montana, we've only had the strings break in three of the blinds (one little one and a big one in the living room slide, and the big one at the bay window). Specialty Window Coverings in Elkhart, IN, (574-262-5190) were very helpful in making the repairs, at no cost. These people are the ones who make the blinds (at least in our rig). Look on the bottom of the blinds and you should see their decal. The phone # may be wrong on the decal but the one I listed is correct. The white ends on our blinds don't come out. It's possible to use a spot of super glue on them to hold them in. Others on this forum have done that with great success.

J&D,
If you are hesitant to use glue try a tiny screw. Ontmont's suggestion is important also as cords that are too tight will ruin the grommets that guide the cord through the shades.

We had the same problem 2 years ago and someone posted a repair here that works great. Unhook the string at the bottom from the plastic spool and then you can get the shade back in with out damaging it. drill a small hole through the side of the shade and end cap then install a small screw and it will stay forever. The screw will be on the back or bottom, don't remember where, but will not be seen.
Good Luck,
