I plan on putting on new tires on my 2007 3500. Does anyone know if I can put on the G614 tires on my wheel that has st235/80 r16 on it now? Goodyear says that replaces a 235/85 16. I'm confused. Someone set me straight. Also have looked into Marathons. Pro or cons?? Thanks John

John, Many of us have switched to the G614 tires, they are about 1 inch higher than the stock tires. Not enough to make a difference. SOME Marathons are made in USA but most are made in China, possibly quality issues with them. If you go with the 614's make sure your wheels are rated for the higher pressures (up to 110 psi), although you probably won't need to air them up that high anyway. I have mine at 100 psi for the axle weights of my trailer.

I put 4 new G614s on my new Montana after 2 of the stock Marathons developed sidewall bubbles. Goodyear paid for the replacement but I had to pay the difference on the upgrade. The 614s will fit just fine, a bit taller but not noticable from what I could see.

The G614s are slightly taller and will fit fine. I have the same model but a year older than your rig.

I currently use the Goodyear Marathons rated at 3,420 lbs per tire, but am very meticulous to keep way under the GTWR. My DOT shows they were built in China but I am hoping an American trained quality control engineer was present at the time. No problems so far, but they are doing much better than the Missions I had on the rig prior.

Am I correct in saying the G614 is a 110 lb rated air and the others are 85 lb? If so, you may have to see if your rims will handle the extra pressure of the G614! If I am incorrect, just rap me on the back of the head when you see me like they do on NCIS!

Art, you are right when you say it's not recommended, but it is acceptable with a few precautions set in place.
1. If a tire ever needs a repair, the repair facility must be made aware of the wheel rating before the repair is made.
2. If the trailer is sold, the buyer must be made aware of the wheel rating before the sale.
3. The maximum weight and psi rating of the wheel must never be exceeded.
You do need to know what the trailer weighs at the axles when fully loaded, and the psi required for the tires to carry that amount of weight. As long as the wheels are rated for the proper load and the psi the tires require you should be ok.

I have the BAL Chocks and they fit just fine......
