Thumbs up TST 507 TPMS Repeater

Wanted to share with this with the group. We originally had a 36' Mountaineer with the TST 507 TPMS. It worked great and warned as twice on one trip to Canada about tires failing (Marathons). Would not want to be without it.

We have now had a 3790RD for about a year and noticed that the system was not always reliable. Sometimes it would beep that it was no longer getting a signal from one of the tires. Sometimes it would not beep but the reading was clearly out of date. I searched on here and found that the general consensus was you did not need the repeater. I contacted TST and they were very helpful, telling me I did need the repeater (all new kits come with it btw now).

So I installed it last weekend. I wired it into the battery bay on the wall at the back, and then ran wires to the panel which has the LCI leveling control panel. There was a little space there to add a switch. I am happy that its a neat install. We only drove briefly back to storage - but certainly it worked fine then. Hopefully on longer drives it will prove to have fixed our problems.

Wanted to share in case others were having some lack of stability with the TST system. Overall, if I can get it stable again, I am very happy with it.

I was having the same occasional signal losses you were. Added the repeater last year and so far no loss. I mounted mine inside my truck back window since I have a 12v outlet under the back seat. Added a switch in line so I can turn it off and on when towing or not.

I mounted the repeater in the front generator compartment on the side of the heat shield and wired it directly to the batter with an inline fuse. I'd had the TPMS system for years, even with the external antenna and would periodically lose one of the tires. I haven't dropped a sensor since installing the repeater.

I spliced a cigarette lighter plug onto my repeater and plugged it into the 12 volt outlet in the basement, then I used double sided sticky tape to mount it to one of the joists. Not an overly fancy install, but works well, is up out of the way, and when I turn the battery disconnect off, it kills power to it.

Our old rig was too long and the new one is also so I've had one in the back window of the truck for 7 years. Works well.

We've had our TST 507 flow through for almost five years, and when I ordered it, I also ordered the repeater, and never regretted it, as it always has worked flawlessly. A little over three weeks ago, we were traveling south towards Sun City, and got the alarm. Turned out it was a valve stem that had come loose, and gave us plenty of time to safely get off the road. Would not want to run without the 507.

Good thread - thanks for the replies. Will hopefully be useful to others that may experience signal loss for their TST installs. Interesting to read how others have wired their repeaters in.

Wired mine in the front storage above the batteries. Connected past the battery cut off installed so it is shut off when the batteries are shut down.

I mounted mine beside the pin box and wired it into the junction box connected to the running lights circuit.

We are 53 feet long.We have never had the need for the repeater as the system works perfectly without it.We have had the system on two Montana's since 2006.

We also mounted the repeater on the forward storage back wall. Wired it to the running lights like the rear view camera. Always run with the lights on and now have 2 more tests to make sure we do....

I have my receiver/monitor mounted lower on my dash between radio and steering wheel, about knee height. I am thinking that the position of the receiver may be the reason a repeater is needed.

Min max settings for txt 507

Just installed the TST 507. What do you all use for min max Settings?? Tire pressure is 110 so plus 25% for max pressure minimum? High temperature??

High temp is set at 158 at the factory and they suggest you leave it there.

I have mine set to alarm the trailer tires (Sailun G637s) at 132 PSI. Truck tires at 90 PSI. Heat setting as default of 158 degrees.

Trailer tires generally run around 120-125 PSI depending on how hot it is. Temps around 100
