Flagstaff, Arizona
We have just arrived at J & H RV Park northeast of Flagstaff, 90 miles from the Grand Canyon. We had intended to boondock at the Grand Canyon but they're predicting gusts of wind up to 50 mph. We thought it would be nice to have some hookups in the cold weather. We've already seen some frozen stuff falling from the sky! And, as an added benefit to being in Flagstaff, Bob and Marg, fellow MOCers, are arriving here tomorrow or Friday. I see some MT in our future.
We met two Montanas driving south toward Phoenix on I-17.

Hi Judy,
I think you did the right thing by going to Flagstaff. It can get really windy there. It is very windy even in Phoenix. There are some good restaurants in Flagstaff. How long will you be in Flagstaff? Karen

Karen, we'll be here 3 or 4 days, long enough to try out a few good restaurants! Any suggestions?
We will probably drive to the Grand Canyon one day. It's only 90 miles from here.
We've gone from 90'on the desert to 50' at 7000 feet in the Coconino Forest. Quite a culture shock. But we like it.

Hi Judy
There are the usual Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel, etc. but a couple of restaurants that we like are Josephine's for lunch (it is close to downtown) and Buster's (which is on Milton Ave) near I-40. I assume you have been to Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon. Don't miss this area.

Hi Glenn and Judy, great to hear your in Flagstaff. However this time of year it can be cool. The Grand Canyon is awesome and is a must see. But make sure you go to Sedona as well as Oak Creek canyon. The different color of the rocks, and Canyons are a thing of beauty. GBY.....

We're hoping to see both the Grand Canyon and Oak Creek Canyon. They are nice day trips from here. It's awesome just to come from the desert to the high mountains in three hours. What a culture shock and change in the weather. It's 42' this morning with snow in the forecase. But we're warm and cozy in our Montana.

Judy, we stayed in Flagstaff a few years back, we took the train out of Williams, Az.to the Grand Canyon. This turned out to be one of the fun things we have done in our travels. We had lunch and guided bus tours at the canyon that is not allowed by all tourists.
Also see Jerome, Az. as well as Sedona. That part of the country is beautiful.

We had a great stay in Flagstaff with beautiful days for sightseeing at Sedona and the Grand Canyon. With our friends Bob and Marg parked next door, we squeezed in a few games of Mexican Train, too. What a perfect stopover, even with the 3" of snow.
