anyone add exterior snap on sun shades

I was going to install a roll down shade over my kitchen table windows, but got to looking and there is only about 3/8 inch of little rod that fits the hanger device. Decided it would probably fall off going down the road.
So now back to square one. I don't want to put the shade on and off at each stop. So anyone with experience in this area?

ShadePro (and others) make a pull down window awning that works very well (I have two of them)

Thanks. I will look into it, but my windows are 4 ft by 5 ft and the top is 9 feet from the ground. So I will not be able to reach up too high to pull it down.

I have two of theses shades for the windows on the passenger side. They supplied a long hook (the same as we used to have for our big manual awnings - which I still had). I also use a piece of stainless steel wire about 2' long which reaches the loop to extend the awning.

EDIT Just looked into these. Seems like they used to have various sizes, or is that Dometic???? Anyway, I found some that are the right width but only extend sloping out 30 inches. That wouldn't give a lot of shade once the sun is below about 2 pm.

They do make various widths. I have two different width ones as my two windows are different in size. I could have got one big one to cover both windows but choose to go with two.
As for drop, the standard shade ends at the bottom of the window. Even a setting (or rising) sun can not get by the shade screen.

I am moving tomorrow and once setup I will extend the shades and take some pictures for you.

As promised, here are some pics of our window shades.
These are the windows we wanted to shade.

This is a fully extended shade on the window over the table. Note how low it comes down.

Management was not happy with how much it blocked her view out the window. I used a plant hanger attached to the pull down strap to reduce the coverage. The hangers come in varying lengths so you tailor the shade coverage to your liking.

Thanks again. However my window(s) are 4 feet tall. I think the arms on the side are only 30 inches, so that would mean the bottom 18 inches isn't covered, as near as I can tell.

Twindman - I did a quick bit of research on IRV2 and came across 2 solutions for “snap shades”…for price comparison to the roller shades like Carl posted.

Magneshade.com - these are attached with strong magnets and motorhome owners on IRV2 agree that they are the best, the easiest to put up and “very expensive”. The only price I saw in my short search was from a poster who stated he bought the basic 3 shades for $1200 which includes big front window + driver and passenger side windows. I will guess that much area is ~80 to 90 sf - so that would compute to $13 to $15/sf - again just my wild a$$ guess. You would need to contact them with the size of shade you need to get a real price and estimated lead time. I assume the magnets are installed on the RV by the purchaser but I am not sure. The screen shot below shows pricing for smaller motorhome side windows.

Sunguard.com - this company provides price ranges on their website - might be cheaper than Magneshade but they reference $18/sf as a guide. They have multiple attachment options - stainless steel snaps drilled into the wall or silicone-adhesive attached, twist locks drilled-in, or Velcro strips.
