Furnace Problems in B.C. Canada
My furnace is running continuously, there is hot air coming out of the exhaust, but only marginally warm air coming out of the ducts. It's not that cold here, only -8° C or 17.5° F. I've had colder days without problems. I have the furnace set at 70° F but it can't seem to reach that temp. Earlier today I ran out of propane because of my water heater which was leaking out of the pressure relief valve causing the heater to run on propane heat for about 48hrs straight before I discovered the problem. The water heater is on the opposite side of the trailer so I don't think there is any interference with the furnace from that.
Any suggestions what to look for or what to do? (Besides winterizing it and moving into an apartment)
2:35a.m. update:
I awoke to find the furnace acting even more strangely. The fan is running and I hear it trying to 'fire up' there is a short blast of heat out the exhaust pipe then it stops. I recall it acting similar on a cool spring day when I had the door open and it was blocking the exhaust while the furnace was trying to come on. It did the same thing. So it seems as if it is acting as though it isn't getting any fresh air?
Damn ... with all these problems I just might say to heck with it and winterize and move to an apartment.

Maybe this is the solution:
Symptom:
Fans Run and Heat is Produced but Burner Goes Off and On.
Solution:
This is called “cycling on the limit switch” and results from overheating in the Heat Exchanger, which causes the High Limit Switch to engage. The usual cause for this is poor air circulation through the furnace, which is a result of blockage of the Air Return or outlet Ducts. An accumulation of dust and dirt in the Heat Exchanger can also cause it. And in rare cases it may be an over-sensitive limit switch.
I guess I'll try and get some sleep now and try tackling it during daylight hours when it will hopefully be a bit warmer. Geez ....

Sounds like your on the right track. Make sure bugs haven't built a nest in there somewhere.

Well ... I wish that was the problem. I pulled out the furnace - that was a job and a half. Then I started taking it apart to change out the limit switch, which is sandwiched in between the two furnace burners which requires a complete disassembly of the furnace. However I found that the burner was cracked so I've ordered a new one ($320) and it will be here tomorrow.
Ok, what's next. I'm ready for anything now ... I think.

A couple of weeks ago, furnace air would come on furnace would fire and run a few seconds and shut off. Did this three times, then it would throw three flashes off the circuit board. That read Ignition Lockout Fault, I torn into it ohm meter valves and then switch and found the Sail Switch inside the blower housing was bad. Got the part less than 12.00, put it in worked great. A Week and a half later the furnace stopped working again. I didn't know what to check, RV tech gave me a few things to check. The AC has a fuse in the control box, he said see if it is good it was. Then he said check the motor switch which I had already done. Then he said the two blue wires coming out of the furnace connect them together and if it works then either the Wall Thermostat is bad or the circuit board in the AC is bad. He said no way to check the circuit board in the AC, but he is 80 percent sure that the its the Thermostat on the wall is bad. So it's on order should be here on Wednesdays the 6th, will update if it works or not. Hope this helps someone if they have this problem with their Furnace.

Rick ... you near had my better half snorting tea out her nose when she read your post ... "It's not that cold here, only -8° C or 17.5° F." I had to remind her you are a bit farther north and have a different perception of cold. Best of luck with the new install.

Hi Got the Thermostat and it doesn't power up. So now I've got to take the circuit board out of the AC. They are made up in Lincoln City, Oregon. I hope to call and run it up there if they are willing to test it and if it's bad buy one and try it. I will repost if it works, it's the last thing to try. later thanks.

Randy, hope the board solves your issue...or...when it is tested and good, that reinstall finds something that is easily corrected. I hate the rv problems that make the brain hurt when you try to find the cause. John

I'm in the process of moving to a different Park, so will have to put it off for a few weeks. I will let you know if that was the fix. Thanks
