Just ordered 3120 and have questions

In the process of completing order for a 3120 with legacy package, 265 solar flex and slide toppers. Considering adding the generator as well. I am looking for feedback and suggestions on hitch. I am looking at Andersen because of weight and ease to handle. Truck is 2019 Silverado 3500 single diesel with 6.5 feet bed Was looking at auto slider pullrite. We can not wait to have fun with this combo. Thanks in advance for feedback

The only experience I have is with the 16k pullrite slider. Plan on another one on my next purchase that requires the 18k. i.e. the 3121. With the new prep kits in the trucks and design of the hitches, removing the hitches are a lot easier than before. I believe they may even be lighter than models a few years back.

I enjoy using the Andersen. I love how light it is and how easy it is to use. I think you would do well with either. It's just a matter of preference. The Pullrite Lite is similar to the Andersen and is also worth considering.

Welcome to the group. and Congratulations.

The big drawback for me on ball type hitches is they doe not inhibit side to side movement as much as a 5th wheel hitch. (If it were not for that I would have a Reese Goosebox) Auto sliders with short beds offer peace of mind and one less thing to remember.

This is a challenging decision for me. My truck bed is 6.5 feet so don't know if this is long enough to qualify as not being a short bed with the Montana. Much appreciated

6.5 is a shortbed. 8' is a long bed

Excellent choice in trailer! I have a B&W Companion, but I also have a long bed dually truck. My pin weight is between 3000-3500 lbs depending on trip, so you will be eating up most of your payload with just the pin weight. So, the Anderson may be the way to go. But I have never pulled with one. When I was initially looking at a CCSB truck, I was leaning toward the Anderson.

We've had slide toppers on both our rigs and wouldn't be without them. Not for the reasons you would usually buy them, but to keep the sun off the roofs of the slides. The heat difference is large.

I would get the generator. I wish I would have now.

Thanks for giving me another great reason to add on that option

I use the Andersen with a 6'5" bed and have had no problems. Don't know that it would do a 90 but I wouldn't anyway. I've had it as tight as I'll ever get it and I haven't had an issue.

This is our first trailer with slide toppers; never wanted them. I live in W TX and all I heard/saw was about the wind destroying them, noise etc. I bought them for exactly the reason DQDick mentioned; sun/heat mitigation....and they seem to work. I will say that in a heavy rain the topper over the LR slide that ends by the entry door likes to run all the water right onto the entry. May have to put something under it or readjust the autolevel.

I have 202 3500 HD crew cab short bed. Also a 202 3750FL I went with the Anderson hitch and so far has been easy to pull and maneuver. Would do it again

I have a 2018 3120 RL and have pulled it with the Pullrite slider for the first year. I did however switch this spring to the Anderson hitch. Lets put it this way I'll never go back. Easy to hitch to 5er, light weight and no chucking.

We have a 2016 F350 with the long bed and our payload is not supposed to exceed about 3,150 lbs. I don’t think a short bed would have that much limit with the smaller wheelbase and because we are right at our limit with our 3120 we didn’t get the generator. Just remember when adding up the weight you have to include everything, fuel, hitch, passengers, firewood, and anything else you might throw in the truck or the storage compartment of your 5ver.

What does your payload sticker inside the drivers door show? I'd have to say you're going to be overweight without the generator. We have a 2019 3121RL and had a 2019 2500HD 4x4 CCSB that had the rear springs beefed up to 3500 size before we took delivery of our 5er. That increased our payload by 500lbs. No matter how we loaded the rig, and by that I mean almost empty up front, we were still overweight on payload and on the rear axle. I didn't feel comfortable with those numbers so I traded it in on a 2019 F-350 Lariat 4x4 CCLB dually. Now I can put anything in all the front compartments and not worry. I'm sorry but being overweight really bothered me.

I have a B W 25k hitch on a 2020 GMC 3500 single rear wheel short box and pulling a 2020 Montana 3120. This is a great hitch with no slop or movement. No slider required as I am able to turn very tight with no issues of hitting the cab with the trailer.

I love the Anderson for the same reasons you mentioned. (Weight and ease of handling). The truck and trailer perform as one unit with no “chucking” I wouldn’t go back to the standard plate and pin. That said there is the need to raise your trailer much higher in order to clear the ball (4-5 inches) More stress on the landing gear. You should be aware of that up front.

Glad to have generator in our 3121RL, although the only time it has been run is for periodic exercising. One other thing to consider is dual pane windows. Adds a little bit of weight, but helps comfort.
