light problem

2011 Big Sky 3580RL - In the ceiling above the TV there is a small flat light about 2 in. in diameter that will not turn on. When I use my finger nail to try to remove the cover the whole light starts to come out of the ceiling. Does this light have a cover or is the bulb and fixture all one piece?

Hi guys. In our rear entertainment model, we have two above the tv that are halogen bulbed fixtures. Glass cover that comes off when twisted...but not easy. These are fixtures that use two stiff wire clips that hold them in place. You can pull down to see the metal loop on each side of the fixture. With it part way out, you should be able to grip the body of the fixture and rotate the glass lens clockwise a little bit to release it from the fixture. Assuming this is what you have, make sure that you clean the bulb with alcohol because oils from your fingers will cause the bulb to run hotter than normal and shorten its life. John

I'd find an LED replacement fixture for that thing. Halogen lights of any kind are a big PITA. Our S&B kitchen had two pot lights over the sink that we could never keep working and the bulbs ran over $5 each. We're about 3/4 through a renovation and those were the first to go. Now there's two conventional bulb pot lights with IKEA 40w + bulbs in them (2 for $4.49!).
