Day-night shades

I am thinking about replacing some (or all) of the mini-blinds in my trailer with day/night shades. Day/night shades look nicer plus have a slightly higher insulative value. Besides, I have yet to use a metal blind without bending the slats!

Am I biting off more than I can chew? How do you get to the blinds to take them out? Do you have to take the "window toppers" off to get to the blinds? If so, how?

I've been putting this project off because it seems a little daunting.
