Living room slide goes in crooked

I had a deck built for my Montana 3402 RL. Then I decided to close the living room slide. As it went in it hit a bolt on the deck and would not close completely on the door side. I opened it again by placing a thin piece of stainless steel ove the bolt which allowed it to slide over the bolt and back out. The nect time I tried to close the slide it went in fine, I thought until I was at the other end of the slide and noticed that side did not close completely. Any suggestions?

I assume you have a hydraulic slide. I thought you had slipped a tooth or three when it hung up, but that should result in the other end closing first.



Count the number of teeth exposed on the slide rail (easiest when the slide is only part way out). The same number is what you want. If they aren't equal (i.e. crooked), remove the shear bolt from the cross-over bar that drives the slave side. Use a crescent wrench to turn the bar until an equal number of teeth are exposed. Re-install shear bolt and you should be good to go. In extreme cases you may have to drop the gear pack to get the teeth perfectly equal.
