Soft Start in Action

I thought you might be interested in seeing the Coleman-Mach AC soft start working. I was disconnected from shore power and using the inverter to generate this graph. Amps shown are DC and go negative to show a current draw. Notice the soft start does not work during the fan start when the amps surge to about 45, then taper off to a steady 24 amps or so. When the compressor kicks on, the soft start limits the surge to no more than the steady running amps of about 95 amps total. Pretty awesome!

Nice! All RV A/C's should come with some type of soft start technology. It would not add much to the cost per unit.

I added Micro-Air Easy Starts to ours. The difference in measured In-Rush current is nothing short of amazing. It actually averages 10 times less!

Our Honda Eu3000 rarely comes off idle when starting one unit now.
