Question Controls

We just purchased a 2006 Montana 3500RL, we haven't take possession of it as dealer has some repairs to do. My question is there is a wire hanging from the right wall going up the stairs to the bedroom, it has a phone connector on it, does anyone know what it is supposed to control. I have notice in pictures that there is a white plastic box in that spot, I don't have that box.

I believe that is the control wires that should attach to the thermostat (the missing white box).

I forgot to mention this unit has remote for t-stat. Could it be for Fantastic Fan control?

OMG no, that is the remote for the thermostat. That setup was despised by everyone who had the misfortune to have it. The thermostat has a 10 degree drift from the set point and tended to run the furnace and AC at the same time. There is a huge posting here describing the thermostat, it's problems, and the replacement parts need to convert to a CCC2 thermostat that actually works.

You are lucky that Carl has knowledge of that system. Better hope that the service facility fix it with the new style thermostat.

I used to have a 2855 yrs ago and now remember using it. Was a hassle but had figured it out after reading manuals and experimenting alot. The problem is I'm now buying used and hope the dealer will fix it without me paying, some was in the unit and ripped off the frig control panel ans this t-stat. Service manager says the HVAC runs on just the remote. Am bringing info posted by Carl with me in hopes it will convince them.

You don't have to depend on the multi-page discussion from here. Take them the Domtetic (aka Duo-Therm) Remote Comfort Control User Manual. There is much to be found on this via a Google search.

I have attached the Users Manual I found. It clearly shows that the remote adjusts the settings on the wall mounted receiver which then drives the furnace and/or AC.

I want to thank you for the manual, I went to see the rig today and found they moved the remote for the t-stat to the grill work on the ac unit, I'm guessing the wires shorted or broke. Haven't tried no battery. Thanks again for your help.
