Fender Trouble
Just wondering if anyone else has had fenders blowing off while traveling down the road. We have a 3731FL and our fenders on the door side have blown off twice now. It is in the shop again and no one can figure out why just this side is having problems.

The fenders are attached using #8 sheet metal screws into the J panel. Not a terribly secure method. I assume all the screws have come out, or enough have, to allow the wind to pull the fender loose or off completely.
Many of us use "speednuts" and a dab of Silicon on the back threads to keep the screws tight. Some have gone to bolts and nylock nuts to guarantee they don't come loose.
Either of these options will keep the fender attached where the stock method is just a ticking time bomb.

There is a large part of one in the Lake Louise area of Canada
New fender looks great.
Using silicone and speed nuts has slowed the loosening process but not stopped it.

When I brought the 3730 home from Mike Thompsons, 7 of 22 total screws holding both fenders had come out. I went to my "boat supplies" box and picked out some #12 SS sheet metal screws and replaced them. Never another problem.

I had a similar problem with my trailer. Only half of the screws had pulled out and the fender had bent at a 90 degree angle. I noticed it and pulled over. Went to a hardware store and put nuts and bolts where sheet metal screws had been no more problem. btw sheet matal screws on 1 slideout had backed out installed larger sheet metal screws so far so good.

Used speed nuts on the old rig and they held for 7 years and a lot of miles on bad or dirt roads. When we picked up the new rig I showed up at the dealer with speednuts and put them on before we drove off the lot.

Ok, I'm not real bright, do the speed nuts work on the sheet metal screws?...
Just got my new 3130, and missing 2 of the screws already..Tempted to go to machine screws with nyloc nuts

Stainless nuts and bolts for me! Sheet metal, sheet metal screws, screw gun....one of the three doesn't belong.

Even though the speed nut may indicate it's for a machine screw, it will do the job when using a sheet metal screw. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HYK9FIM...a-308831890488

8x32 and a washer on at least the front side. Where open due to a cut for the slide to open I put auto door weather strip as it keeps the air from getting behind and lifting. A lot of pressure in an air scoop at 65 mph.

Just give her a sly smile and say they will make her very happy.
They really will.
If a fender fell off you would be cranky and.she would not like your mood.

An easy 30 minute and 10 buck or so permanent fix.
After our first trip. I installed some 8-24 or 32 x 3/4 SS machine screws and SS Nyloc nuts (from McMaster-Carr) with a flat washer under that nut. Our HW heater is directly over one of the fenders and two of those holes got SS #10 sheet metal screws. 15,000 miles and 3 years later, none have 'disappeared' or for that matter, even loosened.

That's what I've done. When I got home after the 3 mile trip from the dealer found most screws loose. Used #8 ss and nylon insert nuts like on our boat after finding the issue on the forums.
