Just received the B&W 3300 Companion Hitch for my 2017 Ford long bed with factory puck system. Can someone tell me the likely vertical and horizontal settings for the new Montana? I have a 3791RD on order and want to have the hitch ready when it comes in. I’m guessing the vertical position is probably the middle position but I’m not familiar with the horizontal settings on the Companion. According to the instructions, the choices are either 3 inches in front of the axle or 1 inch in front of the axle. Again, it’s a long bed. Thank you.
Same Long Bed Ford you describe. I was afraid of not having 6" bed rail clearance and felt Hitch weight should be forward of axle so the weight would be spread a little forward. I mounted the Pivot arms as described and shown in instructions Highest Position 18-3/4" and turned to position "B" closest to cab.
While the Hitch Pin on your trailer may have a different length (Mine is a 1116 Lippert) yours may be same but a Morryde possibly RPB72-1116 which is same size.
I have just over 6" bed rail clearance and good turn clearances. Now the front storage door on trailer will not open far as it hits truck. I do not think it would open much better even with Pivot Arms in aft "A" position.
The Truck does settle 3" (measured at axle - top inside of wheel well I believe if memory is correct 44" decreasing to 41" with trailer) from idle to loaded with trailer.
I figured I have to start some place so start high. I have made NO changes so it remains the same today. Thinking hard about getting the MORryde Pin Box to adsorb some chucking on poor roads. I believe you will have this or similar pin box (The High Country doesn't come with that upgrade)
ENJOY YOUR NEW SETUP.

As far as arms forward or back - mine are normally back faceing. and always have been but it is your choice. Nice part about a puck system B&W - all you have to do is pop the head off, turn the base 180 degrees then reinstall that head unit and you can then 'test' the arm direction 5ers towability for yourself

Thanks for all of the replies so far. As for settling down because of pin weight, I did install air bags and compressor even though I probably don't need them on a DRW. With them I can probably gain back the 3 inches if needed assuming leveling isn't compromised too much. The reason I wanted to install the hitch as close as possible is because I am traveling 1,900 miles to Indiana to pick the Monty up and I wanted to avoid tearing everything down and rebuilding it when I get there. I suppose some tweaking will be necessary no matter what. What threw me on this hitch was the horizontal choices. I didn't have that on my Reese Elite.
I have the Ford puck system with the B&W hitch and Mor-Ryde pin. I am at the lowest setting. I have about 5+" bed clearance and the RV still runs a touch high.
Just like the previous respondents, I have a SRW with the 4" axle spacers. Your DRW has the 2" spacers and if it were me, I would start at the highest setting.

Thanks Carl (n Susan). I had a 2015 F350 SRW like you and traded it for the DRW last month. Another consideration is that my bed rail is about an inch higher than yours. I wish they wouldn't keep raising the rails. Makes it harder to get good clearance and still stay level. Like others have said, I will probably have to install it now and make adjustments when I get to Indiana. The new pin box is Road Armor, and it's any ones guess how it matches up with the Companion.
If the new Ford has even higher bed walls than a 2015 then all the more reason to install the hitch at max height. This will guarantee the maximum bed rail clearance and you won't have to futz with it to gain clearance. The RV may run a bit nose high but shouldn't be a problem getting it home. There you can fine tune the hitch height and the pin box height to level the RV with a comfortable 6+" of bed clearance. I really think that 2" spacer difference will make everything copacetic.
