Are you on the Level??

As I write this, I am looking across the Medora campground in Medora, ND. The older Montana next to me is obviously not level. Across from me is a 30 ft trailer that is listing so much to port that it reminds me of the movie, Titanic. I can imagine the campers will either roll out of their bed or straight into the wall. There are a few others with similiar leveling problems, but you get the idea.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but when I set up for the night, I at least like to have the rig level enough that when I open a door, it stays open. Plus, I'm fairly certain the frig likes it when its level front to back.
What do you all think?

Let me add something to your comments. I am not saying you have to get a survey crew out to make sure it meets local building codes. And I know current frigs are not as touchy. And, I too do not always get it perfect if I'm just staying overnight. But, when you see a rig that is ass low on one end and butt high on the other, you gotta wonder what moron is living inside

It's funny that you bring that up........ I see it all the time in RV campgrounds. I often wondered the same as you, I also think of how many refrigerators have been burned out for not being level.

When we are on the road we don't worry about level if it is within a bubble or so. As far as the fridge goes a Dometic rep said "As long as you don't pick up speed walking from one end to the other the fridge is OK"

Like your quote there Charlie! So far there hasn't been any balls rolling up or down hill in the Monte but I won't say the doors are always level at times, especially if it is an "in the dark" set up!

If we're staying a while it must be level, although we've discovered that it really can't be level because the rigs floor isn't level from one end to the other. We've picked a spot where if it's level we're happy and that's where we level it too. If it's just an overnight we're like Charlie and Nila and close is good enough. Norcold folks also have said that the new refrigerators aren't as touchy as the old ones used to be and close is good enough.

We prefer level, but if off, we prefer to make it "head high" for sleeping.

We are almost always camping in dark at least the first night. We use the bathroom door as our final level. If the doors stay put, it's good. We use the iphone with the free rv level program to rough level. I set it right inside the door before I put the steps down.

That's why we're getting level up before this years Rally.

denanddannie, we were in Medora in early July, check out the one man play, Teddy Roosevelt. Also, Medora has a musical play that is well worth checking out as well, we loved both of them. Take a ride through the south park, Teddy Roosevelt, at dusk, we did and were rewarded with a number of animals out and about.

Of course, if you have been there before, you already know this.

It is amazing that some of those off level rigs are big MHs with auto leveling systems (think they have never been calibrated for level and the owners don't know how to re-calibrate). We love our Level-Up system

We also used the bathroom door indicator in the 06 3400.Not sure if it was completely level but the bathroom door closed. We also used the golf ball on the kitchen floor method. If it did not move when dropped we were level..maybe. The level up system when properly calibrated levels the camper....period. We also note that when the splendede is on high spin the vibration is greatly reduced compared with the 06 3400.

Always use the kitchen counter since it is close to where we store leveling bubble. Never have set up in the dark, even when working. After being retired we stop traveling between 2 and 4 in the afternoon and drinking a beer while we watch come in and set up.

In our old 3295RK rig we used the bathroom door as the final proof of degree of level. If it stayed where we put it then the rig was level. Hey it worked for us. We have noticed that with our new rig the Level Up system does exactly what it's name implies..... It levels! So far we have minimum "popping" sounds. I think our old rig would "pop" a bit now and then too. But with a "heads up" from the MOC members we know to keep our eyes and ears open for potential problems. Thanks to everyone for good info.... Dennis.

We installed the poor mans level up 3 yrs. ago and like it, you still have to deal with side to side level but after that it's all automatic

Hummmm I must be one of those leaning Towers. We were on the road 2 1/2 months this year and 2 months last. Must have stayed at 70+ campgrounds (mostly National Forest or State Parks) and I guess I've had to level side to side perhaps 3 or 4 times. We are almost never perfectly level and the bathroom door might not stay in one spot but it doesn't seem to bother us.

Front to rear I might add or subtract a tad with the Landing gear but even that way we were usually close enough.

I've never picked up so much speed coming out of the bedroom as to not be able to stop before going out the back window.

Seriously - if I'm within a bubble or so we don't notice it in bed. Then again... we also have a sail boat so we are used to life on the tilt.

Hopefully the Monty doesn't rock side to side and front to back when parked tho.
