Visit to Carter Caves

We spent another great weekend with Bingo & his family. We were at Carter Caves State Resort Park.

With the anticipation of some rain and thunderstorms we rigged up a tarp which was quite convenient when it rained. It worked very well and provided extra shade in between the rain. This isn’t anything new. We did this once at Greenbo.

It caught the attention of one man who stopped by and asked if he could take a few pictures. He was a volunteer with a local group promoting tourism of some of the local parks in the Grayson area. Their web site is www.heartoftheparks.com. He indicated we might see the photo on a promotional banner.

What sites were you in? Haven't been there in years and we had a small pop-up the last time we were there. I think they have made some improvements since then.

We were in sites 57 and 58. They have enlarged some sites and they are now full hook-up. These are the sites along the main entrance road primarily. A nice mini-golf course and horseback riding enhance the camping experience. Well worth a return visit in my opinion. The campground itself has some tight areas for our size rigs, but we have never had a problem getting to or into our sites. I must add that getting into our site this year was made a lot easier by Donna being the guide during the backing due to a couple of trees on either side of the site. Cathy gladly relinquished the duties!!

We were there in July of this year, had a very good time, even though the temp was in the high 90's. Especially enjoyed the "picken" at the lodge on Monday night and the one in the campground on Saturday. Presently in Ludington Michigan.
