fuel tank 4 F350

Larger Replacement Tanks Available For 1987 - 2011 Ford Trucks

Transfer Flow has introduced larger replacement fuel tank systems for 1987 - 2011 Ford pickups (yes, 2011!). For 1987 - 1997 Ford pickups with eight foot beds, except standard cab 4x4s, Transfer Flow manufactures a 40 gallon tank that replaces the stock 19 gallon fuel tank. For 1999-2007 Ford crew cab and extended cab pickups with a 6 1/2 foot bed, a 46 gallon replacement fuel tank is available. We offer 47 gallon fuel tank for the 2008 - 2010 model years! For 1999-2007 Ford crew cab and extended cab pickups with an eight foot bed a 57 gallon fuel tank is available, while for the 2008-2010 model year, a 60 gallon fuel tank is available!

NEW for 2011! Transfer Flow is now taking orders for our 50 gallon replacement fuel tank for 2011 Ford crew cab pickups with a 6 1/2 foot bed! Pre-order and save $50! Now only $739.50 (pre-order price). Tanks are due to ship in 30 days! Call 1-800-442-0056 to pre-order your fuel tank system!

The replacement fuel tank systems come with all parts needed for installation, including straps and mounting hardware. The stock in-tank sending unit is reused with each Transfer Flow fuel tank system. The fuel tanks are made from 12 and 14-gauge aluminized steel for superior rust resistance and strength, and are powder coated black for a durable finish. Press here for clearance photos of our 46 and 57 gallon fuel tanks.

These replacement fuel tank systems come with Transfer Flow's 3 year/60,000 mile limited warranty!

I may have to hop on this. I liked my 50 gal aux tank but took a lot of room.

When I first bought my truck I thought about adding a tank or using a replacement tank. In the end I'm glad I didn't. When traveling, we like to stop every few hours to stretch and let the dogs out if they are with us, so typically I stop at a gas station and fuel up too. Is it nice not having to fill up so often? I guess, if you don't like stopping or hate to pump fuel, but for $1200, I just don't see that it's worth it.

Transfer Flow builds quality products. I plan on getting a 60 gal replacement tank for my truck this winter and have it installed at the factory which is only 15 miles away from me. They usually have special offers of free installation or sometimes up to 50 gal of fuel. I have waited almost too long a few times to refuel and the low fuel light will come on. It will be nice to have the extra 22 gal of fuel the replacement tank will provide.

Lets see - 8.5 to 10 mpg (depending on winds); Highway 50 from Dodge City to Las Vegas NM - approx 377 miles per mapquest; Most of it on the open western plains of Kansas / eastern plains of New Mexico -- do have the little towns of Sublette, Hugerton (roll up the sidewalks at 4:30 to 5 PM) and traveling late (as we often do) -- 35 gallon fuel tank -- leaves us stranded out on I-25 (if we are lucky) about 80 miles short of Las Vegas. Don't ask me how I know but the 2 5-gallon diesel jugs I carry were just barely enough. We thought we'd be able to fill in Springer at the station there that we always visit but it was closed (abandoned) when we came through this past year. Talk about pucker factor -- was telling the wife she might have to get out and push -- neither one of us were enjoying that last part of the drive.

So, Yes, a regular tank will do but there are times when that extra fuel might look awfully good. That said, personally, I have not upgraded because I'm also the type of person who says 'Oh Look, I still have half (or a quarter of) a tank, there is no need to fuel yet!!' and knowing that I would continue on and still get caught. Oh well.

Bought the Transfer Flow replacement tank for my 06 Duramax. Loved it. Sold the truck to my son and bought an 09 Duramax. Also had the Transfer Flow installed on the new truck. Love not having to fill up so often, especially when pulling the Monty. Only problem - my son noticed the black powder coating is peeling off the tank. Will take it back to the dealer where I had it installed. We'll see how they handle it.

I wouldn't be without the longer range tank. We still stop every two hours or so, just not at a gas station. Usually a roadside park or large parking lot near grass to let the dog do her thing. We have the 56Gal OEM replacement tank from TF and it is performing great. Just as great as the one we had in our 2500 Chevy. I DO NOT LIKE stopping at a gas station with the Monty in tow. I trust myself, but not the other people in tight spaces. It is nice NOT to have to do this.

With a 38 gal stock tank on our truck, we are able to make it from one camp site to another without refueling (we plan on less than 300 miles distance between camps); however, with the real possibilty of being stuck somewhere in traffic and running out of fuel, we have started carrying two five-gal cans of fuel. The 47-gal tank mentioned would eliminate the trouble of handling those five-gal cans...sounds like a deal to me. I had considered the larger fuel transfer tanks but dropped that idea when it occured to me how much weight that would entail...and the notion of trying to manage our LB truck and Montana in what often involves poorly layed out fuel stops is not in our game plan. Bigger fuel tank, not huge fuel tank, seems to be the answer...thanks for the info illapah.

The stated 38 gal tank on the 08 Ford actually holds more than 40 gallons. We have thus far in travels all over the country not had a problem in finding fuel. We also like to stop every 3 hours or so and will fuel when we do. We thought hard about the extra capacity tank but after our travels decided the cost vs benefit was not there.
