Gustav is raising the price of diesel.
It jumped from $3.91 to $3.99 and will probably jump again here on the Gulf Coast.

We're in the middle of harvest here in Blackfoot, ID along I-15 and our diesel is still arond the $4.25/gal for ULSD. Seasonally, the prices around here stay up untill after spud harvest is winding down in the fall - and then mysteriously - starts the decline.
Got to milk the farming community while the 'gittin is good!

Gas went up here on Friday 10 cents (3.59 to 3.69) and diesel at one station from 4.19 to 4.32; another from 4.06 to 4.15. Saw a Shell station on I-70 just outside of Junction City KS at 4.019 when those in town were at the 4.32/4.15..

Note that oil is down -2.56 today (bloomberg.com) with the US market closed(labor day is only here) and Gustav downgraded. I know they were hoping for the worst.. What is a little human suffering over higher fuel prices. Tuesday should be interesting......

It is now down 4.55 to 110.91 bbl at 10:53 EST...verrry interesting....

Paid $3.95 for diesel yesterday. Other places in Harligen were priced from $4.19 to $4.39.

So for now you can find some lower prices in the RGV.

Diesel fuel in the Amelia Island, FL area has dropped .70 cents a gal since we returned on June 21st from our cross-country trip. When Tropical Storm Fay blew thru it ranged from 4.24 to 4.29 a gal. To the credit of local gas stations and distributors, the storm didn't produce any hike in cost.

Yesterday, I got it for $4.11 per gal.

It will be interesting to see what effect Gustav has at the pump.

"Oil prices crumble as global economic outlook dims
By PABLO GORONDI
Associated Press Writer

Oil prices tumbled more than $8 Tuesday to levels last seen five months ago as investors shifted their focus from hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico to slowing global demand."

It is down to @ 107.00 bbl as of now.

The suffering continues for the folks affected by the speculators and money managers and not just here but world wide. We can only hope that this will bring some regulation in the commodities trading market....... I doubt it???

I think the speculators should have 20 million dollar bounties on their heads, they are using the stock market as a WMD. They are terrorists as bad or worse than any caught to date. They all need to be brought to task for their actions. I know I would like one mounted over my fireplace.... Dave

Oh happy day!!!

Alaska repealed its 8 cent a gallon tax on gas and diesel effective September 1st. So diesel here in Wasilla dropped to $4.94 a gallon overnight. This is the first time we have paid under $5.00 per gallon since April in Utah. Of course when we cross back into Canada in a couple of weeks we will no doubt paying over $6.00 per gallon again.

I hate to say it but I'm waiting for the speculator's crying to result in federal bail outs of these large firms. A lot of retirement accounts were tied up in that speculation and are now in the dumps. I haven't even looked at my TIAA account - don't want to shock my system -- plus still many years away from being able to use any of it -- but is a pain / problem for those in or close to retirement!!
