Tekonsha Brake Controller swap

I have a Tekonsha Voyageur brake controller in the truck now... I just bought a Tekonsha P3.....from the included instructions I should be able to use the same plug and just wire into the existing loom...all the wire colour codes are the same....Anyone ever done that????? Big job???

I did this, but I e-mailed the company first and told them what I wanted to do and they gave me the OK.

Don - I'm interested in the P3 (currently have a prodigy but went Hydraulic disc brakes on the trailer). So, wondering how you like it and how it performs (of course once you have a chance to use it). Thanks in advance.

On our 2003 F350 we had a Prodigy and just plugged it in. I would think that plug is pretty universal and any differences would be noted in the controller manual.

We have the P3 in this Dodge and are very happy with it. We do not have the hydraulic brakes but the controller can handle it should we make the brake change. The P3 is essentially a Prodigy with a different face and interface plus the electric over hydraulic capability (electric control of hydraulic brakes). There is a setting on the P3 to tell it you have hydraulic brakes.

Send a message via AIM to Fire1
P3 works great and the brakes actually stopped the truck.
Brakes and the New Dodge exhaust brake wow what a combination.

Thanks all. I'm in Albuquerque for a few days so I think I'll make a trip to the west side (Camping World) and pick one up. Hopefully they are still on sale but with my luck -- oh well.
